All that it is going to do is make it so that they have to go through immigration to pay to come here. Forty years ago a Mexican citizen could cross the border pay El Paso City hall ten dollars and become a US citizen. Today people have to pay thousands may never get it so they just come back illegally. It seems the objective is to put more money in the pockets of people who steal from immigrations funds, increase their salaries but not to make sure the workers they allow in pay more in taxes to the U.S. They constantly catch immigration workers bringing across illegals for 400 dollars a head in border crossing vans and a man locally in Florida has brothers who work for immigration on the border patrol who bring him illegals to work for him. It is not time to funnel more money into immigration but it is time for immigration reform totally. Fire all of them and replace them with prior service l

If they are going to do it then they need to do the entire border but if they do not fix the corruption and greed of immigration it is like throwing money in a hole.

Our schools are being ruined by too many poor immigrants who can't pay in taxes the $10,000 per child per year it costs to educate their children much less pay for the other services poor people here use. We need those services and our funding for our own people. That is why we and every other country in the world that subsidizes services for poor people limit how many poor can come. Open borders is most certainly NOT the answer.
As to the cost of the fence, whatever it is will be a whole let less than the cost of new illegal immigrants who would come without it. The exact cost is hotly debated, however.

I agree. Building a fence is just moronic. It reminds me of the Berlin wall. Does our government have to stoop so low as to building a fence to keep people out of our country?
