I have an indefinite leave to remain in the UK...do I need a visa to travel to Spain or other EEC countries?
Answer:
as far as i know you will need a visa to visit European countries . some may grant you entry some may not you would have to check you Jamaican status against the country you wish to visit. but i do know that if you have an indefinite stay in GB and gained another visa for a European country then you are entitled to travel to any euro country. 2 visas in Europe gives you access to all as long as the visas are valid.
so yes I expect that you would need a visa.
you should be entitled to a British Passport , so why don't you give that ago It cost £70 and you will receive it within weeks anyway. Remember that Jamaica is part of the commonwealth ?
probably cheaper than getting a visa.
in all probablity you will be required to have an entry clearance before you can visit EEC countries. It is easy to get in the UK.. just contact the embassy of the country where you intend to spend the maximum time.. you will be goven visa valid for travel in all EEC countries...
British citizens must hold a passport (can be expired for up to one year), but no visa is required for a maximum stay of 90 days for those holding a passport endorsed British Citizen, European Community, British Dependent Territories Citizen or British Subject. Other UK passport holders require a visa and a passport valid at least three months beyond visa expiry date.
