Why Do They Want Us to Focus On Immigration Instead Of Iraq?

Have you noticed that there is no specific yahoo category for the War but there is for immigration? Its like they want us to discuss some things and forget others.

I knew when this topic of immigration came up it was
a slide of hand act to get our minds off the war.

Its very sad to see the wanna be patriot attitudes of people when it comes to immigration but when it comes to the war how often do you think about it compared to the time you spend on immigration?
You are doing exactly as they would have you do. Your dividing from each other and forgetting the war almost completely.

Think about it, Theres a category for immigration all by itself
But not for the War? We are all immigrants aren't we? Who
on this board is indigenous to this continent? Illegal immigrants are also fighting for the US in the War did you know that?
This issue of immigration is a smoke screen to get our minds anywhere but on the war And we bite like lambs to a slaughter when they say jump we ask "how high"?

Answer:
Umm...I've got two brothers who have spent almost 3 years each over in Iraq so I haven't forgot about the war. There is a reason for the media focusing on immigration however. I think it may be because of elections and the fact that no one knows what is going to happen with Iraq. The media loves something that they know will/can create the biggest debate and have people split.
That is very well put. Anything to get our minds of the war. First they picked on the gay people with the marriage amendment now its the illegal immigrants. Who is next?
your right
it's an attempt to try to keep the terroists out.
The war comes up plenty in just about every category. It doesn't need its own category. It is, theoretically, a temporary event, whereas immigration will always exist. There is no "they" trying to decide this for you. Everyone is well aware of the war AND the immigration issue. Which one matters the most to any particular individual is their choice. You are being totally paranoid and speculative.
Great observation and great question.

I love it.
I don't know about yahoo, but I can tell you that the whole immigration debate is continually brought up as a distraction to the public for the war. Think about it. What major event caused an uproar about immigration? Nothing. The white house said we need to take some pressure off about the war so lets attack immigrants and say how bad they are and let the press start a big debate and there will be rallys and marches and congress will pretend to make progress but never actually do so. That way, war coverage becomes limited. It is a joke.
I think in the coming election immigration will be a more hot topic then the War. Immigration has a direct effect on each and everone of us right NOW. The War in Iraq is very important, dont get me wrong, but we as a nation are slowly being invaded by illegals that are killing our economy and putting legal americans out of work.

IMO, Immigration is a much more important topic then the War, but again, that doesnt mean the war shouldnt be paid attention to.
The illegals question is closer to home, where a daily invasion is occurring! The implications of this on-going illegal invasion are much more far-reaching to the average American than the remote war which does not affect our daily lives and wages. Smoke screen you say? The war in Iraq is the biggest "smoke screen cloud" on the planet!
There is a category for Military. That covers the actions of the military. There is a category for politics. That covers the actions of our politicians. War would fall into either category. Immigration is its own issue.
FINALLY, someone smart. This administration has done a great job in eluding from the real issues this country faces at the moment. Does anyone even realize how much this war is costing us? Not just the current cost but the bill we'll have to pay China later. Not to mention that all these veterans are coming back injured and will probably collect disability the rest of their lives and some of these kids are in their early 20's. That's a lot of money that we don't have. I can't believe that our citizens, who by the way were immigrants themselves at some point, focus their energy on a few illegal immigrants when we have a real crisis in the Middle East..unreal.
Immigration is an issue that should have been focused on years ago. It's a good thing that it's being addressed now. The laws that were passed with amnesty of '86 have never been enforced. It's about time.
What makes you think we don't care about our fallen troops or the men and women who are willing to lay their lives down so we can have freedom?

War does have its own category, its called CURRENT EVENTS - The global war on terror is an important one, one that will decide our fate. Soldiers take on the responsibility of being one because that's what they had dreamed of doing - Serving their country. They know there are risks involved and they're willing to lay their lives on the line - Show more respect to them.

A few reasons Americans focus more on illegal immigration:
- Costs of their free healthcare
- Dumbing down of schools (ESL classes)
- Drug dealing
- Identity theft
- Diseases are being brought back that were obliterated in the U.S.
- Property damage

"Illegal aliens are killing more Americans than the Iraq war, says a new report from Family Security Matters that estimates some 2,158 murders are committed every year by illegal aliens in the U.S. The group says that number is more than 15 percent of all the murders reported by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the U.S. and about three times the representation of illegal aliens in the general population."
actually if you think about it, immigration is a bigger issue then the war in iraq. how far are we from iraq? too far... the problems at home are more important to the family that lives there then the problems at their neighbors house, yes or no? being the reason immigration is such a big issue. and yes, there are "illegals" fighting in the war, whoever said their weren't any doesnt know what they are talking about. many of them are dying for a country that wont give them a chance to be legal in it, but they have hopes that they will one day be legalized and then what happends? they get killed in iraq and then when their bodies get brought back, their family gets the dead illegal immigrant soldiers citizen documentation... thats bull, if you ask me, so many american citizens are not willing tp gp fight in iraq, but want illegal immirgants out of the US, but mose immigrants are more then willing to go, to fight for a country that so reluctantly wants them out... think about that one
You sound like the government then, trying to tell me what I should think and feel. Nice try, you don't any of us and what each of us goes through on a day to day basis. I bet a majority of the posters here have a relative or friend over in Iraq, are you saying that they forget about the war? They have to live it everyday sweetie. Take your judgmental opinions elsewhere.

PS-I lived 30 mins away from NY at the time and I still have not forgotten I remember everyday. Every 9/11 I light 2 white candles is my window to remember, what do you do?
More like Why do they want us to focus on immigration rather than the North American Union that they are pushing through with the SPP.
i guess immigration is considered more of a global issue. the war on iraq is an american and iraqi issue.
I have a good friend in Iraq, I concentrate on both... I do not think people are ignoring the war for the immigration issues, amazingly enough most of us can concentrate on more than one issue at a time.
Iraq is a smoke screen, Illegals will destroy this country is left unchecked we will have most of south America here, and all poor people, it will destroy our nation. Iraq is discussed everywhere. Big corporation want cheap labor and they don't care if they destroy the American people and families. They want their money and profits.
Whats wrong with the military category? You might find it hard to believe but war revolves around the military.

Nobody has a problem with immigration. We have a serious problem with ILLEGAL immigration. Take a trip to Home Depot and see how large it is. They are ruining our country by using are services that are funded by tax money from legal people. We pay for everything they do yet they contribute nothing to our country.
I would think that some in the government would be pleased if sites Y/A did not exist to allow Americans to gather and exchange their views on issues. Apparently, some think voices in the media who oppose their views should be silenced. Fortunately, not the majority who voted to uphold the First Amendment.
It is our obligation to look for and behind any 'smokescreens' and pay attention to all issues and the activities of our legislators. You can monitor their activities at the links below.
Like a few others have pointed out, there is a military and a politics catagory.
Unless you live in a border state, the news is about the war not immigration. You have it backwards, the people in control want us to concentrate on the war and not on the illegal problem.
I get most of my info about the illegal situation from here, I read everyones opinions, and follow their links, pro's and anti's. That is how I have become so Anti. not from what the anti's say but from how the pro's insult, threaten, and degrade my country.
I learned of Aztlan, and La Raza's racist agenda from the links provided on here by the pro's.
The slight of hand is by the people in control of the press pushing for the Mid-west and other non-border states to rally in patriotism or rally against the Governments role in the war, depending on if it is a liberal or conservitive news channel.
The purpose is to leave the border states to deal with the illegals on their own without the support of the rest of us. We see what is happening only in our areas and taken individually it doesn't seem to be so bad, we are sheltered from the worst of it unless we know to look for it and search the web. When someone starts looking they then discover the larger picture and it is scary, I have gone to La Paz de Aztlan and other racist Hispanic sites and that is why I inform all my friends and contacts to start searching for information, so we are not distracted by the medias concentration on the war.
I have problems with the war also, but my problem is with the Government not the soldiers, and who in the H**L do you think you are to claim that illegals are fighting there too. Whan I took my oath I don't recall any illegals there, with the checks in place, I think that is the one job they can't steal.
And get off the whole indigenous native kick, remember the Hispanics were on this continant first, they are the ones who taught us how to destroy native races and take what we were strong enough to take. I seriously doubt that the native populations have any great love for the people who started their destruction.
It is a nice try on your part to try to redirect our attention, but sorry no go. This board is for dealing with immigrants, and informing each other of the impact and conduct and neglected, not so well hidden agenda of the illegals, so forget your smoke screen.
