Green card process?
Answer:
YOU need to file for removal of your conditional status. They will NOT do anything if you don't do that. You must start the process and it has to be done BEFORE the conditional permanent residence card expires.
You'll get a receipt from them and then you'll have to wait until they contact you again and tell you what to do next. Do not leave the country while you do this, you won't be allowed back in.
They'll give you an appointment for an interview. You'd better be there. After the appointment, they decide if they will remove your conditional status or not. It depends entirely on them.
If they approve it, you'll get your Green card in the mail some weeks later. This new Green Card will be valid for 10 years.
.
yes, in order to get the conditional status removed from your green card you must file form l-751.
This must be done within the 90 day period before the expiration of the 2 year anniverary of Green card issue. You will most likely have to have fingerprints done again, but no big deal there. You will then have to attend a Interview with USCIS for determination of issuance of a Perm Green card. good luck!
To remove the conditional status on a conditional resident your spouse have to summit the I-751 90 days before your second anniversary. You will received a notice of action extending your I-551 for one year. The process of obtaining you new permanent resident card, I-551, would be:
appointment for interview
appointment for fingerprints and picture (biometrics)
new I-551 by mail
