I was told that I need a waiver of inadmissibility included with a visa application to enable me to obtain a visa for travel into the US after being deported. I am looking for a way to legally return to the US since I was made aware that a ban exists for a period time for overstaying my visa. I was deported from the US back to my home country two years ago for overstaying though I was not convicted of any crime in the US. I am wondering what are my options to enable me to return legally to the US even for a short visit as a tourist just to visit my parents and children and without the intention of working in that country or overstaying again.

You of all people should understand that the problem with short term visas is that people 'overstay'.
You can have your reentry to USA by petition of your family. You can also try as tourist by providing info about your real property and your bank account. Then interview with US embassy.
