Green card application. Present or maiden name?

Hi. I married 8 months ago after I got my asylum (1 year ago). It is time to apply for green card but I'm not sure which last name better to use: maiden or married? I just don't want an immigration to mix up my papers because of my last name change.

Answer:
I changed my name when I applied for Adjustment of Status. My attorney said it would be best that way or else the paperwork could of been delayed if I had done it before that. (My paperwork was filed in my previous married name) Then when your "Green card" comes thru, it is ready in your new name, making it easier to change your driving lic (this has to be in current name), SS# etc. Remember that when you do your taxes, it could be confusing, all your id in one name, taxes in another etc. I know, I still haven't changed my ss# name! Your "Green card" is your ultimate id, this is your most valuable possession, all your other id, legal info MUST collaborate with it! Your question has reminded me I must change my SS# name. Thank you!
u could use both attach ur husbands name onto urs
but if u dont want to do that, id suggest asking the green card people
it's up to you. which name do you want to continue with? if married name then all you will have to do is provide your marriage certificate to show how name was changed at time of interview or during the process of your application . Then you may have change name on your driver's license, social security card, credit cards and other documents.
