Does any one know can I travel to Europe only with my permanent resident card (green card)?

I'm from Poland I have polish passport and permanent resident card in US I plan to go in couple of months to England for couple of days and then from England to Poland for little vacations but my passport expired. When I went to embassy to renoval my documents they told me it will take up to 6 months for my new passport to arrive but it will be to late for my trip. My husband told me that I can travel with my green card instead of my polish passport is that true?

no, u cannot travel just with your green card...you will need your unexpired polish passport to visit england and then poland.... you will definitely need green card to reenter US ...as you will have to show it to the Customs & Border Enforcement official as proof of your permanent residency in US....without your unexpired polish passport you cannot travel to other countries....
No, you can't travel with only your greencard. That is for US residency, it has nothing to do with traveling to other countries. I would suggest you contact your embassy to get an emergency passport. That may take much less time than it would to get a new passport. You may also want to contact the embassy and see if you can get your passport expidited (you would probably have to pay an extra fee for that).

Your husband is incorrect. You must have a valid passport. When you are living in the U.S. and have a green card you are REQUIRED to keep your native passport valid and up-to-date. You can be deported if caught with no valid documentation.
You can travel within Europe on a Polish Identity Card but not a US Green Card. In any case I think you will need a Polish Passport to exit then re-enter the US?
