If the USA is such a great country; Why Two Million Americans moved permanently to Mexico?
Answer:
That is not a bad idea. If the cable TV and the fast Internet services are OK, and if the hospital services are just as good, I will look this up. You may have something here.
American dollar goes further is Mexico
They moved there because the cost of living is less. Actually, they ought to move to Guatemala, which is much nicer than Mexico.
When they retire because money is worth more?
Bush and war :D
They were prolly fuckin mexicans that became us citizens and then went back to mexico.
Where did you get this? Even if the fact is correct that pales in comparison to the amount of immigrant moving INTO the U.S.
Anyone who desires to leave the USA, may do so,
Hasta LA Vista baby!
Uh, who cares?
They like CANCUN?
The only better exchange rate than the U.S. Dollar is the Euro!
You are welcome to follow in their footsteps.
I don't care where they choose to move.
Let me ask you a better question - if Mexico is so wonderful, why have 20+ million illegal alien criminals broken our laws and invaded America? I keep hearing about how great Mexico is but it must not be all that terrific!
Because the exchange rate is sssoooooo in the favor of the dollar.
Duh!!!!!!
The almighty dollar rules.....
I like what you are saying. Please do more to convince illegals to stay in mexico or go home to mexico.
BTW...those two million Americans are there so America can establish a foot hold in mexico when we decide to annex it. Call them modern day settlers.
Every country in the world has people who love to live there.
As circumstances in their lives change, so can the ideal country.
When your young and need the money the USA has the money.
When your old and your pockets are fuller, you look for value for money, Mexico can be be of those places
If Mexico is such a better country why are people risking their lives to leave it? actions speak loader than words. And why are you here?
Wow what a comparison. 2 million going there vs. 12 million coming here. KEEP ON REACHING! hahaha.
I have never said Mexico is a bad country. Mexico is not some third world country like people make it out to be. It currently is considered a middle income country with a high Human Development index, better than most Eastern European countries. With that said 2 million Americans out of a population of 300 million not that much. Also I am guessing the majority of those are probably expatriate mexicans or first generation immigrant children. I know a good amount of those are retiring to places like Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama, because they are pretty decently developed and are very cheap places to retire too. But Mexico still has some problems mainly a major income gap that has forced many of the have nots of your country to seek employment elsewhere and risk their lives and endangering themselves by working illegaly in the US.
To visit their relatives.
They went to Mexico because that is where Bill Clinton's NAFTA sent their job, they had no choice.
Why did 20 million Mexicans move here?
so why 12 million of illegal immigrants are here?
2 Million is a speck of sand on beach blowing in the opposite direction. In otherwords, it's meaningless.
Dude, Americans could ALL live like Millionaires if we moved to Mexico and evaded US Taxes.
Some people figure it's easy to cross back ...just follow the Mexican trail to the border!

It's a shame when a serious question gets a whole bunch of thoughtless, knee-jerk answers. The only thought-out answer here is Drake's.
As one of the 2 million US citizens who moved to Mexico I can give you the answer that applies to me, and me only. Everyone who chooses to move to another town, state or country has his/her own reasons for doing so.
I moved for many reasons but mainly because I felt more at home in central Mexico that anyplace I'd ever lived. And no, I am not Mexican. My grandfather came from Germany over 100 years ago. My mother's family goes back farther and comes from several European countries. I grew up in the US and am a proud American. But Mexico has become the home of my heart.
I love many things about the country but mostly the people, their warmth and hospitality, their music and food, their sense of color and joy in living. And especially I love the fact that their priorities seem to be in better order than most Americans I know. They have a stronger sense of family. The don't rush when hurry is not really that important. I have seen them to be almost unfailingly courteous and friendly, even to me, an outsider. They have welcomed me to their country with open hearts and arms, even when my attempts to speak their language made us all laugh.
I know a lot of "ugly Americans" in Mexico who I think are there for all the wrong reasons. But I know hundreds of other Americans living in Mexico who are not just there so their money will go farther. They are there for a combination of many factors that make up a lifestyle--the weather, the adventure of living in a foreign land, the slower pace, The chance to develop true friendships (which takes time and proximity and a lack of "busyness"), the human warmth, the sense of community that has been lost in almost every American town and city I know of.
That's my thoughtful answer to your question.

Here is an economic lesson for you. Many Americans when they get ready to retire, go to poor countries like Mexico because it is cheaper to live. They have a retirement income and the dollar is stronger than the peso so there you have it.
THEY ARE GOING HOME ?
Because Mexico is a beautiful place to live. Theres sunny beaches, great food, great people, lots of tequila, margaritas, beautiful Mexican people, and many other luxuries.
You're kidding, right?
I can think of several answers, but you'd just be insulted.
The nice answer is that there is a very small middle class. Few rich and lots of poor which translates into something like the aristocratic class and the slave class. Rich Americans can go there and have their own "Plantation"...you know, like in the old south. Besides, most of the criminal element has left Mexico for the U.S. Which cleaned up a lot of that country and polluted ours.
