Does it really benefit the USA to not allow financial aid to undocumented students who want to attend college?

( or are capable of doing so )

i know that many of them op out to not attend college because it is harder for them to be able to ...

here somethign which i found :

Stephanie majors in English at UCLA with an emphasis on creative writing. She's an honor student with an above 3.0 GPA. Due to financial hardship, she started high school at the age of 12 and community college, by 16, transferring to UCLA at 18. If she was academically on track, she should have finished college by now.

Due to her undocumented status, however, she had to take time off from school to work menial under-the-table jobs as a housekeeper. She also used to fold cardboard boxes to pay for the $3,000 quarterly-tuition, excluding textbooks, $300 apartment rent and other miscellaneous expenses.

Answer:
As an immigrant I should say that YES, students with high GPAs should receive financial aid. That bullpoop about every "illegal" receiving financial aid means an american is left out is plain ignorance.

I know many, many, many americans who don't go to school simply because they are lazy.

In my eyes, an american person, born and raised in the US, born to american parents, should have enough money to afford college.

Why you say? I set myself as an example:

I moved to the US 7 years ago without speaking any english nor having any skills. Today, I can afford to go to school, pay my house and my brand-new car. If I was born in the US I'd probably own it by now...

Sure, I had to do odd jobs and do stuff I wasn't used to, but in the end, it has paid off.

If I could do it, I cannot imagine why an american cannot do it.

It would DEFINITELY benefit the US to have these skilled people working in the US, for the US, instead of other countries; say China, India, etc.

To those of you who are going to flame me, remember I'm saying that ONLY THOSE STUDENTS WITH HIGH GPAS should receive the aid.

TO FRED:

If your son has a higher GPA than Stephanie and is an american citizen that means he qualifies for scholarships... you shouldn't have to pay for his education since he's a good student... like Stephanie.
Sorry, I am one of those who is against in state tuition for illegals. Where is so little financial aid to go around, it is only fair that those who are here legal should have the aid. Most but not all illegals get paid under the table, so therefore they because of the low incomes would get the majority of the limited aid. I used to work at a state univ. and most students got little or no aid
You want to know if her getting a education would help our country, in the short run maybe but in the long run it would only encourage more to do the same, coming here illegally
Stephanie needs to have her butt deported and stop draining the resources of our already overwhelmed school system. By the way, "undocumented" is just another way of saying "criminal" or "illegal" or "willing to knowingly violate the laws of this society which has been kind enough to educate her". These are the kind of people that convince themselves that tax fraud, insurance fraud, and other crimes are acceptable behavior. She needs to go and it would be best for everybody if she all of her criminal ilk with her.
There are US citizens who cannot get financial aid. Why should it go to an illegal? Call it undocumented if you so desire, it is the same thing, she came here illegally, with her illegal parents. Aid should be for those who are citizens or who came here through legal channels. If I do something illegal, can I get some financial aid?

Undocumented, ILLEGAL people are draining this country enough.

I,m crying real tears but I liked how you glossed over the
illegal part.
Yes it does. In a perfect world there would be enough money for any child who wants to and has the qualifications to go to a good college. However, that isn't the case. For every illegal immigrant who gets a discount to go, an American doesn't get to go.

Their children are not more important than ours, particularly when we are the ones paying the taxes to fund the universities.

They get the funding first if they are poorer - not fitter.

And no, I think it hurts America.
She would also have to pay out of state tuition. But, Game she is illegal and those funds should be for American citizens. It is bad enough that people out of country can get temporary visas to further their education; however, they are doing it legally and paying a very high price to get that education.

Many Americans pay and work to attend college. That should be no different for anyone who is illegal, but then if she is illegal, she should not expect special treatment for her status and get fair treatment.
Boo hoo! Tons of Americans don't get financial aid (our tax dollars) while I've known illegals and non-citizens that got finiancial aid due to the financial status of their parents. That's wrong and I'm sure finalcial aid or not, illegals who are college students are far better off here than in their own country. Give a mouse a cookie...
Financial aid needs to go to the legal law abiding citizens only. My tax dollars do not need to subsidize illegal aliens. My tax dollars are for me and my family. Poor Stephanie needs to go ask her native country for a scholarship, not mine!
Documented or undocumented a lot of students have to work menial jobs and take time off to earn some money to live on and pay tuition. If someone wants to attend college bad enough they will do it just like your friend is doing. It might take longer and it might be harder but it won't hurt her. I don't understand the part of "due to financial hardship she started high school at 12" most students start at 13 or 14.
Undocumented = illegal = against the law = deported = not eligible for benefits that only LEGAL Americans should be entitled to receive. Period. I don't understand why this concept is so difficult to understand for so many people. My parents came to this country and waited and filed all the proper paperwork to do it LEGALLY. Why is there an exception for those who break the law first and then want to stay?
To answer your question; Yes. It benefits the American Youth who have paid taxes, and their parents who have paid a full share of the taxes needed to sustain our educational system. If undocumented immigrants desire to educate themselves here, I have little to say about it. But let's be fair and ask them to pay for it. Let them work their way up the social ladder just like millions of American immigrants who have come before them. When they invest some blood, sweat, and tears into this country, they'll be more likely to cherish it.
hard work never killed any one:) They where lucky enough to get a free education in public schools in the US and not to mention free lunches and b-fasts and where taught to speak english. A really good question! Many Americans Go through the same hardships and are never informed on finacial aid or even told people want them to go to college. Some even refuse it out of pride! it is where you put yourself and how you imagine yourself THAT REALLY MATTERS.
The problem with anti illegals is that they always use their emotionalism to determine what's right and wrong. They say that since she entered the country illegally --even when it wasn't her choice--, she does not deserve to get scholarships. To me that shouldn't matter, especially when she came to the country without an option. The United States would be, and excuse the word, STUPID to deport someone that is a genius but has no legal status. Why the hell does it matter if her parents brought her illegally? If she is smarter than all the dumbass rednecks that I see everyday and can contribute to the country not only economically, culturally, socially, and intellectually, why not let her stay? Again, this is impossible for the air-headed antis to understand since they only think about "right and wrong" and not about "convenient or inconvenient."
Sorry, but I think that you should have to be a legal citizen of the U.S. in order to receive government assistance of any sort.
Heck no

Having people educated its the best that can happen to a country. The most educated its a country the most possibilities it has to be a great nation.

I think that they should provide financial aid base on your grades and not your status.

Cause even if you are an american and other its illegal. The best student should have it
In the long term, no. It does not benefit the U.S. to keep anyone who is qualified to go to college, and who truly appreciates an education, from going.

In fact, it wouldn't break my heart to see them empty out the preppy spoiled frat and sorority houses to make room for them. I don't personally value privilege and birthright over drive, dedication, and pride.
i cannot believe i am hearing this... i pay out my butt to keep my kid in school and you think because an illegal is here, that somehow they deserve the rights us americans have. but..WAIT...i don't even get that right (free schooling). you people are unbelievable. we do not OWE mexicans/illegals anything...at all...NADA...ok
OMG..in a perfect world, we'd all be living the great american dream, but unfortunately...even for REAL AMERICANS...that dream is a struggle, and for you to say that we should give illegals this on a silver platter..because, why?...because an illegal mind is a terrible thing to waste, well.you've got some nerve
My great grandparents immigrated to this country (both sides) legally.
I am an American citizen.
I started working at the age of 12.
I had a better GPA than Stephanie.
I received zero financial aid.
I graduated.
I still work.
I pay taxes. Lots of them.
My oldest just started college this year.
He had a better GPA than Stephanie.
He gets zero financial aid.
Is Stephanie more deserving than I was because she is an illegal alien?
Is she more deserving than my son after all the taxes I paid?

This has always been the land of "opportunity." It is not the land of handouts and freebies as some would like to have it.

Stephanie should consider herself extremely fortunate for her life's experiences. She knows what it is like to have to work for something which she will appreciate far more than if she had had it given to her.

Unfortunately, people like Stephanie may never understand why she was not entitled to the free education she received for most of her life. She likely will never understand that it wasn't the US government who gave it to her - but it was me who she stole it from.

Building a society of people who believe they deserve something from my pocket for free "just because" is a certain road to societal destruction. So, no, America is not better off taking my hard earned money and giving it to Stephanie.

Obey the law, follow the rules, work hard, take part in American society and you will appreciate your life and the rewards you have earned.
Illegals, undocumented are synonymous for criminal. Education should be for all. Financial aid needs to be for american citizen ONLY. Not all americans get it. Some get a limited amount but they have to pay the rest. They work extensive hours in different jobs sites to cover tuition. If an american does this, then why can't they do it. I understand that they have family.Americans do too. Illegals doesn't contribute to our society. They're draining our resources. Most of them care less for their environment and government. They pay no taxes. They make $$; they send it to their country. They get money under the table too. They get government help in different aspects (food, cash, health). They are protected here. They're suing companies, government, police, churches (actually everybody they can get $$ from). That money is coming from US: americans.

I had met immigrants in college using somebody else name. If an american does this, he will be put in jail...so, why an immigrant can't go to jail for that? They use illegal documents. they form a new family here. they have no remorse whatsoever of those kids they leave behind. They come to USA to make a good life so they say...but what about their kids. Don't they deserve a good life too? Don't they deserve a fam? Then they come here and want us to feel sorry cause they know we have good hearts. I used to feel sorry but not anymore because they are putting our family, our future, our resources, our life in danger. How can I feel sorry for those who leave their family behind. Why should I feel sorry for those who decided to commit a crime. It' has to be wrong to protect those who putting our families, future, resources in danger.

A case of a criminal mexican woman in Chicago who still lives in a church...she had commited criminal acts. Many people are supporting her because they feel sorry. It doesn't matter what she does...she's a criminal. She haven't feel sorry that she had commited those crimes. Why should she get benefits like protection? crossing the border, sleeping around to pay off her debt, suffering during those days.come onnn, it was her choice to go thru that in the first place. Now a days, she gets free food, free housing, free clothing, no bills, etc. Being a criminal made her special... hey! wake up, Americans suffer too. Why should I give up my financial aid so a criminal can get it? No way...Financial aid is for american citizens only. Government gets no benefit from them so why should they get the benefit. If they get financial aid, then they probably finish school sooner. They'll live better. Americans can't because of lack of funds. So we must keep working our butts off to keep up with life, college.. I suppose that we probably graduate later. When we're ready to pursue a professional career, they're already took our jobs.

Immigrants/criminals live better. They pay little rent since they live in groups they divide it up. Right there they are breaking the law where there should be a minimum of 2 person per room. They own good cars, most business, etc. NOW, What about us? Who think about us? We must do something NOW...They're already in our gov system. They're trying to shape laws to their benefit..but once again what about us? If we go to Mexico (just an example since they are the majority), do we get money to go to their schools? Will their gov. will treat us good + respect us...of course not. You can see this by what happened to miss usa on the miss universe peagant? She was booed by them because the US is trying to control the entrance of immigrant to this country. She has nothing to do with that. Again, they just think on them. they are egoist. What will happen to us when our resources are not available...they will move on to another country to screw them up. Some are moving to Canada now a days. Let me say one last thing...I'm not against mexicans.I'm against people who come here by illegal means. Those mexicans and others who come here using our legal system, they are welcome. They do deserve a better life.
