What are currently laws surrounding Asylum seekers or refugees??? Top points for best answer!?

Like once they arrive in the uk and are granted asylum or if they are allow to stay here,Are they allowed to stay here forever or do they go back when the situation in the country of their origin has been resolved?

Answer:
How long have you got?!

Asylum-seekers are usually housed and accommodated by the Home Office while awaiting a decision on their claims. They are not allowed to work or get mainstream benefits. This was often years, but now is usually a few months.

If their claims are accepted, often after appeal to the courts, they are usually given five years residency, at the end of which their situation should be reassessed to see if it is safe for them to return. During the five years, they have the same rights to work and benefits as UK citizens. If it is decided that they should remain, they would eventually be able to apply for UK citizenship.

If their claims are refused, unless they have children, they are evicted from the Home Office accommodation and their support is stopped. They are still not allowed to work. The Home Office in theory sends them back, but in practice there are many countries to which returns are very difficult, there is a huge backlog, and also having evicted the people it is then hard to find them.

All this is a great simplification. The rules have changed countless times in response to tabloid pressures, so there are many other situations that arise.

In general, the life of asylum-seekers is pretty miserable, unlike what people read in the papers. People also often confuse asylum-seekers with other types of migrants, for example East European workers. The term refugee is generally reserved for asylum-seekers who have been given a positive decision.

Hope this helps.
i think once they are here they get nhs treatment, free cars, free houses, free money. free everything i think. makes me sick.

dont know how it works with kicking them out but it doesnt appear that many do go home. they make up stories like "im gay and if i go back ill get killed"

i can understand letting some legitimate assylum seekers staying but there are too many of them. that main thing that pisses me off is that they come through loads of other countries where they could stay just to get to the UK because they have it easy once they get here.
i think the law states that as many as possible can come over here. take our jobs housing and benefits and women. and if we say anything about it, we are called racist.
ENGLAND IS FULL!!
Just to put it into perspective.

They make a beeline for this country and given the earth for free, houses, money, skills training, free health care and god knows what else. And what do they give back, very little if what we hear is correct.

I met my wife in the UK who is from Mexico doing a professional job on a HS-MW visa. We met, fell in love and got married in Mexico, then another service in the UK. We have had a ** of a time fulfilling all the paperwork requirements and of course the fees for the spouse visa. Luckily we can both afford these but my point is it makes me sick that she is a professional and has money, property etc but the system is upside down. It would be easier to be an unskilled freeloader.

Bring back the old Britain
jimquk is right
To expand on what jimquk says, once an asylum seeker is refused and government support is stopped, the reason they disappear is simply because they have to find a way to support themselves and so they have to go underground in order to work illegally in order to survive. If NASS support was maintained until they were returned to their own country, some say that they would have more reason to stay in touch with the authorities.
The other issue which is becoming a problem is the situation where people are here legally but through the offices of someone else but when that relationship breaks down, they have have no recourse to public funds and are therefore destitute.
People in the UK take for granted the right to go and live in any country they please and make their own little corners of Britain and yet we treat people coming here very badly.
There are few asylum seekers, most are sponging migrants
with a false claim to UK benefits and YOUR tax
