Illegal immigration also contributes to the dramatic population growth overwhelming communities across America--crowding school classrooms, consuming already limited affordable housing, and straining precious natural resources like water, energy, and forestland. Taxpayers are being forced to pay for the free health care, education, and other welfare programs being given to illegal aliens; Those tax dollars could be given back to U.S. taxpayers or used to keep our borders secure; They may be here illegally, but they sure know how to "work the system" to collect "free" medical care, "free" education, "free" food, Section 8 housing vouchers and other housing assistance, and hundreds of other social services. It costs citizens additional hundreds of billions of tax dollars at every level: local, state, and federal. It gobbles up billions of our charitable contributions. And much of that money ends up siphoned out of our economy and into offshore accounts. Illegal aliens, over half of whom work "under the table" with neither job nor income reported (nor taxed), are not counted as employed or unemployed. But some of those day-labor and off-the-books "job-lets" would be "real" jobs - available to American citizen job-seekers - if employment regulations were enforced. Illegal aliens can get away with tax evasion, et al., which citizens cannot. In short, we have too many workforce entrants and too few jobs created. The ratio works out to roughly 7-10 workforce entrants per job created. If all illegal aliens depart or are deported, all legal immigration halted, and all temporary employment visas abolished, we still have a problem with more US-born workforce entrants than new jobs created. Illegal immigration damages our country and our citizens every day at every level. And not even the attacks of 2/26 and 9/11 have awakened many Americans to the vast dangers illegal immigration poses to our selves, our families, our communities, our society, our values, our principles, our civilization. Illegal immigrants need to go back to where they came from, and try to enter the country through legal channels. I'm curious to see how this all pans out with the fine and the return to their countries, then bringing them in based on work and education levels.
Millions of aliens have ignored/broken the current immigration laws that our own government hasn't bothered to enforce anyway.
This is just like the amnesty legislation of 1986. That law, which forgave and encouraged illegals, has only added to the problem. This new sham will make the numbers and costs even worse.

So, close the US/Mexico border, and put on the earmuffs for two years so we don't have to listen to the whining. Mexico can and should start taking care of its' own people, its' own problems, they declared independence in 1910 or so, I think it was, but have yet to manifest it, almost 100 years later, there's a Big Problem there. Some of the people that've posted here claim to actually be from Mexico, and have basically said that the one and only reason they're in the United States at all is to make some money, and while you can't hate a guy for trying to get ahead, you also have to say that sometimes you need stitches, not band-aids, and basically Mexico needs the Ultimate Makeover routine in order to become economically self-supporting. That's the Big Fix, the one that takes all the time and the work and the investment and stuff, which is why people go for the Quick Fix of breaking and entering into the United States.
We can either tolerate the status quo, or start earnestly petitioning our representatives such as they might be to stand up and politely but firmly refuse to be part and party to systematic negligence bordering(no pun intended) on incompetence.
Mexico's gotta stand up, and jump into the 21st century with both feet, and start dealing with their own issues. Nuff said.
Actually you will suprised to know that similar programs had an amazing success in other courntries. One recent example is the European nation of Greece and its refrom with economic refuges from the Balkan.
The immigrants in the US are not really illegal considering they had implied blessing of Congress. The lawmakers basically allowed them to come in the first place and pretty much invited them in by sanction this form of immigration.
Needless to say, if people want to deport the illegal immigrants it will cost the American people millions upon millions of dollars in policing the nation and deportation proceduces. If you want to pay that, thats fine. I for not am not going to have my taxes futher increased so you can rave about the "eeevill Mexicans who will destroy America" and other fantasies.
The most important current factor nationalization of undocumented aliens is good is our current system of social security which is one of the real and imminent threats to all of America. Soon there will be almost more old people people receiving Social Security than young people paying into it. As unfortunate as it sounds along with S.S. it is possisible that the American economy (and thus its power) will also collapse. The System need "new blood" to keep the economy running and the so called "Amnesty" is the perfect solution.
You should be happy of this healthy job competion from the immigrants because if wages increase too much those jobs will also be outsourced to India and China where wages are much lower and employers can save millions.

In a way, yes. But we know better, all it would really take, is enforcement, we have immigration laws right now, and very good laws. The Senate really hopes, that with this bill, the illegal aliens, will reward them with votes.
I am sure the Senate are vain enough to believe we will swallow this amnesty bill as the solution for steming the flow of illegals into our country. They did it before, and look at the results; what is it now, 20 million illegals here? There is no solution at hand until our borders are sealed tight. Then, and only then, can they work on the problem of those already here.
