First of all, the illegals earn very low wages and generally have lots of kids for exemptions. Based on these two facts, they generally would not be paying ANY taxes. SS & MC would also be minimal and wouldn't help. It is already estimated to cost taxpayers $2.5 TRILLION to cover just the illegals Medicare and retirement. That doesn't include American Citizens!
However, there is something called "Earned Income Tax Credit" or EIC. This means that if the new citizen has a tax liability of $100 and the credit is $500, they get a REFUND of $400. If the liability is $0 and the credit is $500, they get the whole $500 as a refund. Basically the taxpayer is giving them extra FREE money!
No matter how you cut it, the American taxpayer gets screwed if amnesty is granted!

The amnesty carrot is nothing more than the GOP trying to shore up some future election votes, if 12 million Mexicans are allowed in the GOP figure theyll get a good 10 million extra votes at the next election. If it happens I hope like hell those 12 million vote the republicans out of existence.

The thing is, if they are illegal, they don't pay taxes and get hospitalization for free. That's why people are against them because they come here as freeloaders. I feel bad for them because they live in poverty in Mexico, but if they want to come here, they should come here legally. (Once legal though, then they would have to pay taxes which would help the country, but not them so why would they bother)

That's one of the reasons I figure they have been allowed in over the years. The other reason is they tend to have large families and I believe there is a plan to have their offspring fund social security for us baby boomers in the near future as they enter the workforce. I am against all illegal "immigration" by the way. This is just my theory. Think about it.

Figure it out:
12 million illegal immigrants.
3 million of them use a false social security number
9 million of them don't use any SS number
the 3 million ALL pay payroll withholding (it's the law) because their employers expect that, since they have SS numbers. Amnesty will not change the tax collected, but will reduce the numbers using the false numbers.
None of the people using false SS numbers can NOW get any kind of refund because they'd be found out.
If they're given amnesty, they probably will be able to collect some overpayments of tax as refunds.

the 3 million have an average income of maybe 30 thousand each., or 90 billion total.
at a 25% tax rate, they might pay 22 billion in taxes.
Is that as big as the budget deficit?

If I were given the amnesty deal that these people are about to get, I would not pay one cent in taxes.
I would wait for a couple of decades for the politicians to finally realize that there's a problem and broker a deal for me to pay a total of 5 thousand or so, and on a payment plan, with no criminal record of any kind.

Amnesty- though the politicians don't use the word, it's really what it is- will do no good.
The illegals that are not already lieing thier way into food stamps, medicaid, TANF, etc, will legally get those services. So the taxpayer will pay more (note- I don't oppose temporary aid for those who need it, I'm just saying more people will be using that resource, i.e. money will not be saved)
As someone pointed out, the EITC issue. and 500 is a low number. A person can receive up to several thousand based on how much they earned.
Furthermore, it is morally wrong. It is a slap in the face of the people who come here legally and spend time going through the proper channels o become citizens. We make them go thru the system but othes can enter illegally and we just shrug and say "they might as well stay"?? It's offensive.
And for all those who want to bring up our ancestors or the engraving on the Statue of Liberty? Well, while I think the process should be revised and streamlined for people going through all the proper channels to become americans, you must remember, this is not 1776.
The system is there both to make sure new citizens aren't taken advantage of (the way many illegals are) and to protect the existing citizens (from something liek 9/11 happening)
Granted, many illegals are people merely fleeing poverty. But others come here selling drugs, stealing cars to take back over the border and sell and simply because they know they can get welfare while getting paid under the table illegally to work. They are taking advantage.
Further more, largely illegals are not doing jobs americans won't. If the illegals were not here, someone would be willing to take the job. Also, lots of employers underpay and overwork thier illegal workers because they can, and the the worker will take it. They choose to hire an illegal because the illegal- esp if its one who is illiterate- is less likely to know labor laws and will accept lower wages. Also, certain industries are kept going on simply for the sake of paying low wage workers. i.e. sugar cane, grows much better and is much cheaper and still a higher quality in more tropical climates. Lots of illegals work in the sugar cane farms of Cali- they could be fired and americans would keep right on getting sugar from countries where sugar cane is more easily grown.
not to mention, a lot of illegals make thier money through drug trafficking.
Without the illegals, there are still plenty of illiterate and uneducated citizens who would work the jobs more educated pople don't want.
And finally, crack your history books and take a look at the 1980's when amnesty was granted. Quite obviously, it did not deter illegal imiigration.
