The blame game: Illegals or our government?
We should share the blame and hold our government accountable.

Here's my thought: if you can get away with something, what incentive is there to do things right? So..if illegals know they can cross the border, find a job, drop a load here, and qualify for welfare because of that child, then why shouldn't they? What incentive do they have to NOT do it?? Can you really blame the illegals?
The American government has allowed illegal immigration to go long enough. Of course they know where to find them. Try the Mexican club, try the day labor site in front of Home Depot, try the construction sites, etc. They know exactly where they are at but won't go after them.
They say it is too expensive to go after them but what about the money taxpayers pay every year for everytime an illegal drops a load and we pay for the cost of labor, delivery, and then welfare for who knows how long? Does it make any sense that an illegal alien can qualify for foodstamps and medicaid but we have so many American veterans on the streets, homeless. We are too busy taking care of illegals than taking care of our own.
The number of illegals is so high now that it is finally becoming a priority to the government. Hopefully, laws that already exist, and have existed for years, will finally start being enforced.
Absolutely its this govt fault.If a govt. doesn't even enforce its own archaic laws, how do you expect people to obey these laws.Their necessity for a better life is greater, than a law which this govt. refuses to enforce.
Of course our government should be held accountable. But their crime is incompetence.
Illegals willingly, and knowingly, violated the law.
You are right the blame should go in many different directions starting with the employer who is driving the demand, our legislators for letting it happen even though the people have voiced their demands. In fact if we concentrated on those two much of this problem would work itself out... Take away the demand and the supply will dry up... The illegal immigrant is also responsible many started out legally but overstay and many make a conscious choice to come here without benefit of approval.
Big Brother has always abused his power.
Automatic status when born on the soil of the country is what most countries do. You will see a lot of Europeans that are also Americans dual citizenship. There is noting wrong with the children of immigrants being instant American citizens because they were born here and will know the culture here a lot better.
Anyway it is mostly to keep cheap labor here. That's a sad commentary. We will need a reform that will allow people to efficiently get their citizenship. We live in a globalized community now, and so mass human migrations will be quite normal. It becomes an issue of racism when we start lashing out at illegal immigrants because at the end of the day they are just like you. They want to work hard to have a living, and they want to do what is good for their family, and if that is what it takes then they cross that rio grande. You will be surprised by how many illegals come from Asia and Africa will surprise you because very few of them do it the way hispanics get here. They get here through education. On Student Visas. Then they stay here once their visas expire, and don't bother to atleast apply for residency or a work visa. Though it isn't widely talked about which means that there is a bit of discrimination by the media towards hispanics.
I blame both.
the illegal immigrants know they are breaking a law, and they choose to do it anyways. And the government does nothing about it. All they keep doing is kow towing to the business world and allowing it to continue. Both anger me, and both need to realize that a majority of the citizens of this nation don't like it, don't agree with it, and want something to change or else they will take matters into their own hands.
Believe me when I say neither wants that to happen, for once that corner is turned, there will be no going back.
You're right. Our govt is failing us. They try to appease everyone including the illegals and the big businesses but they are ignoring us, the American citizens. The main reason we have the problem of illegal aliens is because our laws are not enforced. And big business are profiting and not getting any punishment from the govt.
However, the illegals are well aware of their illegal status here in the U.S. They just haven't been caught. Most criminals will continue to do the crime until they are caught doing the act. Same thing with these illegals. Sorry, no excuse for them being here. Throw them out. They shouldn't be our problem but they are.

Government until the gov. starts forcing these big companies to pay americans what they supposed instead of going to cheap labor the problem won't end. In a way it's good this will force all these lazy americans off their asses to go to school and get educated because the way things are going I wouldn't worry about illegals I'm worried about all the companies that keep leaving to other countries to pay peanuts for the work sorry we are all screwed.
I completely agree. A mexican woman came into my store and didn't even have an American I.D. and wanted a credit card. I had just helped someone right before her that also applied for a credit card and that person claimed to have good credit and didn't get it. The mexican lady applied, with a mexican i.d. and got it. She also pulled out her purse and she seemed to have a lot of credit cards. I don't see how illegal immigrants can develop credit in the u.s.
Both need to be held responsible
