Why is it said that we can't deport 12 million illegals?

If we can miserably try to liberate iraq, i think we can take care of business here. It's as easy as the INS making an unexpected trip to suspected employers, fining them and rounding up everyone who doesn't check out, isn't it? If theyd fine the employers heftily, the work would dry up and theyd leave of their own accord.

Answer:
Gosh, unless you are a native american then maybe we should deport you. Are you ready to go?
Stay away from my cat
Because the government is not willing to do what it would take to deport 12 million illegals. It is not a matter of "can't" - it is a matter of "won't."
housing 12 million people? Agents to handle 12 million arrests? Paper work? transportation?

If 12 million people TURNED themselves in, ICE would never get them all processed
b/c it's cheaper to keep them here than deport 12 million illegals.
I say as long as they are productive members of society, let them stay!

When they start playing the extradition laws, kick them out!
Why would you want to?
And you can see by Iraq how successful we are at accomplishing hard tasks. There are also plenty of fugitives who show that our resources can't find everyone. Until we round up all the fugitive murderers and rapists, why go after people who have committed lesser crimes?
it'll cause huge economic problems, and humanitarian problems, and hurt our overall international image even more..

Mostly its a lot of people, and no agency can handle it. The America is ran in the most inefficient way from the way we use energy to the way we manage our budgets.
Amazing racist, we can't..How about we fine all businesses who hire these workers and they will leave voluntarily? Besides, the logistics on shipping out 12 million people is IMPOSSIBLE! How would you find them? And even IF you did find them, imagine the costs?!
Ask your leaders, the rep want to protect the business that hires them, I have figured out what the democrats are doing other than following a couple of idiots (Kennedy and the Calif lady senator).
Big business would never agree to that, and they are the ones running the country...good luck.
we cant stop millions a year from just walking across our border.they wouldnt be able catch as many as walk across every year
It's never that simmple. Like cutting greenhouse gases, which in theory is a good thing, the line from the administration is often "it would cost industry too much". Similarly, while it's technically wrong to employ illegals, think of the savings this represents. With the economy in its current state, I doubt anyone will want to rock the boat too much
You are just using the old "if we can land a man on the moon we can do ... [what I want done] arguement. INS doesn't have the manpower to round up 12 million illegals in a short period of time, and even if they did, there is a certain amount of "due process" to be carried out. Also, not all these illegals are from Mexico. Are we going to take millions of people with wives and children and dump them into Mexico?
Smoke screen! It can be done! Just another way for the government to do nothing! Vote for a new government.
"...the work would dry up..."

Do you realize what "work" would dry up? The necessary, unglamorous work that most Americans want no part of...without a cheap labor source, most of these businesses would suffer, if not fall apart.

Additionally, the INS is understaffed and underfunded: unless the government substantially increases funding to the INS, no policy will be able to make a serious dent in illegal aliens in the US.

Third, rounding up huge groups of people is never a popular option in a democratically elected government. Since the last round-up (the Japanese concentration camps during WWII), most would agree that there would be a tremendous political disaffection for whomever orders the round-up. This would be political suicide. Remember, you are not dealing with abstract numbers or a simple "yes-no" issue, these are human beings with individual lives and stories. Any policy of mass deportation will result in instances of atrocity...damaging the credibility of the US to police moral issues while initiating frightening precedent toward citizenry based homeland initiatives.
whoa 12 million! anyway, the key reason why governments dont deport illegal imigrants is that they provide very cheap labour and also have to pay taxes, plus the government doesnt have to insure any of them. all this just gives governments money. But governments persude people that they dont deport because its not a nice thing to do, and they want to make their international image look better.
you're right... then why don't they do it... could it be that corporate america is using their lobbyists to kill the bill the would send them home? Or, is it true that it would affect our economy? ummm... don't know.
the first step is to secure the borders so that once someone is in Mexico they can't get back in without the proper documentation. Otherwise deporting people wouldn't do any good because they would just come back.

The next step is to stop motivating people to come, stop offering free healthcare and crack down on all of their sources of income.

Once the border is secure I think we could do it. 12 million (some estimates are as high as 20 million) is a lot. We would never get them all and it would take years to make even a dent in this number, but its a start. It sends the message that we are not going to tolerate illegal immigration which is much better than forgiveness and amnesty because it deturs future illegals from even trying.

I think we should finger-print the illegals before they are deported, this way repeat offenders can be identified and punished more (i'm not sure of a reasonable way to punish them since jail is not an option for overcrowding issues and be-heading would be a little extreme, but I'm sure someone could think of something, perhaps a few whippings would suffice).

The bottom line is I'd rather have my tax dollars go to deporting illegals even if we can never get all of them rather than have my taxes go toward healthcare for these criminals.
Yes , back in the " 50's " President Eisenhower sent back thousands of illegals with , ' Operation Wet-back " . He had the guts to say , that many illegals in this country wasn't good for America .
He put Americans first !!!
Something this President will never do !

CLOSE the BORTERS ,NOW !!!!!!!!
for one thing the number is wrong ,we have about 40 million...thats alot....they say there hands are tied.what a lie...
It is true that we can't deport 12 million illegals. The logistics of capturing and transporting 12 million people is overwhelming. The hole it would leave in some local economies would be devastating.

However, we can deport illegals 20, 50, or 100 at a time. The first place to start would be with any illegal that is arrested, regardless of the violation, should be deported. Violent criminals should serve their sentence first, then be deported. This would help get rid of the bad ones.

The second step has to be to eliminate the incentive for them to come. Heavy fines for employers who hire illegals is one part. Government subsidies like free education, health care, driving privileges, welfare, etc needs to end. It may sound cruel but the problem won't end until the system changes.

The rule of anyone born in the US, even to illegals, is automatically a citizen should also be abolished.
3d farms, thats true but they also rounded up legal Mexicans and deported them back too...they profiled and every mexican that they saw and deported them...
Actually we don't need to deport anyone, what we need to do is start incarcerating anyone who hires illegals, and take all illegals off of all assistance programs. If we did these two things they would have no option except to leave.

I'm not talking about just the mexicans here, we need to do the same for all illegals.
Its simply more illegal alien supporter rhetoric and BS propaganda by the bleeding heart bleeding heart biased media. Don't fall for their lies,. It can and must be done after making sure our borders are fully secured.
Identify ,arrest and deport all illegal aliens.

RICO give that a rest ..even the so called native American migrated here from other Continents.. Read a real history book.

AngelaR ...There's nothing racists in wanting to see your nations Federal Immigration laws enforced and your playing of the race card is a weak attempt to stop people from telling the truth...You are the racists you don't care that there are millions of NONE Hispanic illegals also in this dynamic.
Because thats like 5% of the labor force and there is a labor shortage right now.
The problem now is the US economy is reliant on their cheap labour.
If our Government can figure out a way , to make us all pay income tax. They can figure out a way to deport . Do they want to, that is where the problem is.
