The devil is in the details and we will never here them. Sen Martinez says 40,000 grandparents of Z Visa holders would be able to enter each year. They have not contributed to our Social Security! Every baby born to a “guest worker” here will be an American citizen. How many of these pregnant “needed unskilled workers” do you think will be here? Who is going to pay for these folks?

I watched an economist on TV last night and JUST FOR PROCESSING the original 12+ million illegal aliens the price tag will be in the low billions that's NOT including their family members they will want to bring over.
Social Security???

Workers Compensation???

And to the next person that says well they pay taxes, they pay (on average) $1098.00 (Before EIC, Earned Income Credit) in taxes per year, IF they are not paid under the table - how far do you think that $1098.00 (minus EIC) goes?

Despite the crap you see on TV - they DO pay taxes. They just don't FILE tax returns, so the government keeps all the money. You have a problem with that? They are already PAYING their own way.

On this issue I tend to agree... I don't know what the President (and other Republicans) are thinking. Certainly not what is in the best interest of the people.

You should really study the issue before you simply regurgitate what you have read in the liberal press.
Only 3% of the illegals in this country are doing the "coveted onion picking" job. That means about 1/2 a million. What are the other 19.5 million doing?. They pay taxes? Yes on things that they consume but they don't pay INCOME tax. The average illegal consumes about $17,000.00 more in social services than they contribute. Americans are hurt when they go to the emergency room and have to stand in line BEHIND all of the illegals. They are hurt even further when they get the bill and they have to pay for themselves and the illegals.
The cost of illegal immigration is about 20 billion a year. Another 23 billion is sent out of the country thanks to Bank of America and their "safe send to Mexico" program.
The cost to implement this Kennedy inspired disaster is estimated to be 2.5 Trillion. How much of that should we sign you up for? More Americans have been killed because of the presence of illegal aliens than the war in Iraq and you ask how Americans have been hurt. The list goes on and on.
