Wait for the "compromise" immigration bill to pass and go into effect. Apply without mentioning the misdemeanor. The law only gives the feds 24 hours to check your background, and law enforcement agencies say it usually takes about a week, so in most cases, they just won't be able to do the check in time and you'll automatically get a Z visa. That is renewable for the rest of your life.
i hope not. i think if you have no record at all then you can become a citizen other then that we dont want those people. people who have bad backgrounds.
they will do a background check, you may still get interviewed but they are very strict. Even for misdeanors. Basically if you end up paying 500+ dollars, you could very well be screwed with no refund.
Also, if you are from a place where the government is more lenient towards, they could very well just overlook your misdemeanor. If you are from a place they don't like, they could hold it over your head.
