I just found out that my mother married for the USA papers; can I get in trouble if I know about it?
What can happen if they get caught ?
Answer:
Well, if you were born here, then you're technically a US citizen.
If you report your mother and her lawyer, then she will be sent back to wherever she's from, and the lawyer will hopefully be disbarred. You, however, will be applauded for doing the RIGHT thing and following the laws. You are welcome here.
if the marriage goes south, just hope she has her Green Card by then if not it's bye bye USA!
deportation for her, jail for him.
No, it isn't your fault.
It's not a reflection on you. Your mother may be using
survival instincts. However, I think her morals are absent.
Sex for money. It's the oldest profession.
If she gets caught, she will be deported. And unless you have someplace to go, you will be deported with her. The so-called husband will likely receive a fine but if he has a clean record, may avoid jail time. You may very well be an American citizen but if you have no one to go stay with you'll have no choice but to leave with your mother.
The fact that her immigration lawyer knows this and has taken her on as a client, is pretty sick. He should be open to a fine as well. While he does not need to report her, he should not take her on as a client knowing she is lying. Most likely, he is submitting papers full of lies to ICE. But what does he care? As long as he is being paid right?
How old are you? If you are old enough to live on your own, then do so and avoid getting caught up in this.
