How does a residential alien become a US citizen?

Answer:
If you came to the USA to marry a US citizen, you can apply for citizenship 3 years after becoming a permanent resident. If you came on another basis, it's 5 years after that.

You can apply at the USCIS and need to take an exam full of questions that a lot of Americans find hard to answer of may even fail, but at least when you pass that you can become a US citizen.
First to become a U.S. citizen you first have to apply for asylum and then once you have lived a fair amount of time in the U.S. you apply to become a citizen and you will take a test about the history and the basic facts you have to know about the U.S.

hope it helps :P
