Has anyone been for a passport interview?

Apperently, when applying for your 1st British passport, you have to now have an interview - does anyone else know about this and what do they ask you?

Answer:
no, glad iv already got my passport..

mates just got one.. and has never had one.. had to go to the passport office.. but that was it cus she left it bit late as she was going on holiday in about 2 weeks...

don't think you need an interview unless its a BRAND BRAND new thing..

You English..? Didnt mean to be rude or anything..
Oh my god really?? Never heard of them doing that!
No sorry
gee, am sorry but thats a waste of govt time and manpower.
the US has a population of 300 million people and we dont even do that.
I would guess just have birth certificate and identity cards ready for them to verify the passport applicant.
yes the interviews are for Adults who are applying for their very first passport.

My son had an interview at the passport office last year, he had to go to Glasgow for it. Its nothing to worry about, they just go through the form with you and want definite proof of your ID. Its all part of the tighter security since the bombings started.
I went for one last month as I was renewing my passport and updating the photo. I had to do the fast track passport renewal (done in one day).

Its not an interview, they just check your details and make sure everything is in order. My interview comprised of "Good morning, do you want the 4 hour service?, everything is in order and pay at the window over there".

NOTHING to worry about.
Yes! Regardless of the fact that you have never done anything wrong, you will now be photographed, fingerprinted and have your DNA taken by the Government. You will be treated like the enemy of society.

Shaggy above is right of course, but he is talking about renewing passports, and not applying first time
This has been the case for first time applicants since 1st June 2007 and is for security purposes.

Not sure what the interview entails, but I for one would have no problem in supplying fingerprints/DNA etc as I have nothing to hide, especially if it helps prevent identity theft.
