no, it does seem crazy because the ruination of our schools and closing of our hospitals and draining of our services that you see now in areas where illegals (above reasonable quota immigration) concentrates would be all over the country, and those areas where schools are already failing would never recover.
It isn't the people, it is the poverty and the numbers.
Why doesn't Mexico pay for education through high school and basic health care etc already? As you say, they are number 13. So what is the excuse?
It is the infrastructure inequality that is the problem, because OUR infrastructure is already failing from the excess of illegal immigration.

I'm not saying our services are better than Europe's because you are not asking about us blending with Europe. Social Security is not at all the same, you have to work 20 years there and it is only 10 years here, to vest ,etc etc. And Mexico does NOT provide free education through high school to all its poor.

We would loose some of our sovereignty
We would be forced to assist Mexico in many other ways then we currently are at the expense of the average working stiff/taxpayer.
We would loose some of our safety as we open our roads to mexican truck drivers who are not regulated like ours are.
We would have the spanish language forced upon us even further then it already is - I think its fine to know it if you CHOOSE, but this would make a persons financial success in the US dependent on knowing spanish.
We would be forced to endure an even faster growing populace. We have over 300 million now and are growing faster then we ever have. We do not have room in our schools and hospitals now. And we would face ever shrinking open space, shortages of fresh water and more pollution.
There is more to life than saving a nickle on your tomato purchase and screwing your neighbor over by hiring slave labor to replace an American.
The North American Union needs to be stopped immediately and Bush should be tried for treason for his role in the issue.
I think it would be an economic success for the very wealthy and he very poor. The middle class would be absolutely crushed.
