My German and Italian Grandparents came in legally through Ellis island and had no social services to prop then up and they had to learn English and their sole survival was up to them.

Nope. That was a different time. Today, there is no WWII or crisis overseas (or in Mexico in this case) and millions come here illegally, still clutching their Mexico flags while their loyalties lie not here but there.

There was similar cultural strain on a much smaller level, of course, they were here legally (and no, WOP does not mean 'without papers') so there wasn't the feeling there is towards illegal immigrants who happen to be Mexican.
The Great Wave is the reason the restrictive immigration laws of the 1920s were adopted, and that is when we had the growth of our middle class. It is time to return to similar numbers, if there is intent to keep the huge numbers that have flooded our services. You can't bring children or parents who will have children, when you don't have enough classroom space or trained teachers.
Mind you, when my latest family (German) came, they donated land with their neighbors and built a school and church and passed the hat for a preacher and teacher. The school there still bears my mother's maiden name. So things were a bit different.
Hardly. My ancestors came through Ellis Island, kissed the American ground and never looked back. They were farmers and sharecroppers assimilated gladly, and raised the Greatest Generation, my parents.
The Mexican (or any other) immigrants coming into this country now have it far better than the immigrants of years passed. There were no laws to protect their rights or safety nets in case they fell down.

3 of them were won by Mexican born immigrants in Vietnam, As we speak 9.5 % of the active American service women/men are hispanic, 17.5 % of the front line forces are represented by Hispanic's and we are taking 13 % of the casualty rate according to DOD statistics . Many of those troops are immigrants, I do not hear Americans demanding those jobs, Why not, and your state that immigrants are "cowards".The Anglo's claim this is their country, why are they not willing to fight for it. No, because they did not slip over the borders in the huge numbers that the Mexicans, middle easterners,etc. do today. I am sure some Germans and Italians came here illegally but not in the numbers as the Mexicans and they didn't expect public assistance.
I know many good Mexicans, I am of latin decent myself and was raised in a predominately latino area of San Francisco, but that does not mean I like the Mexicans or anyone else coming here illegally and getting public assistance that the taxpayers are paying for. My grandparents on both sides came here from other countries legally. It took them years of waiting for their turn to come here. They did it the right way, as everyone should.
By the way, why do you mention only Mexicans? I have no objection to Mexicans and other people coming here legally.
I do object to non citizens getting public assistance. I also object to them having "civil rights" they already broke the law by virtue of their being here illegally so they have no "civil rights"

Other countries dont even allow immigration..there is no real reason we need immigrants anymore. Let the people from other countries build up their own country, dont run away and try to hide in America.
