So, everybody who is against ILLEGAL immigration is a racist huh?

Why is this the only answer I ever get from people. My best friend who is African American agrees my me in every sense of the word regarding illegal immigration, but let me guess, he's racist right? What wrong with people. Maybe I should dump my hispanic girlfriend then, or at least tell her that I'm racist because after 5 years she hasn't seen it. But everybody here seems to know me better than her. Can you advocates of amnesty come up with any else besides being a racist or that WHITE people are lazy, and nothing would ever been done if it weren't for mexicans. They ARE hard workers and not bad people and they are just trying to make a better life for themselfs, but I still have a problem with the ILLGEAL part of immigration. And yes my family migrated here as well, but LEGALLY through Ellis Island, I know for a fact because I've seen their names in the book their, I grew up in New York City. So please come up with something else besdies the racist card, it's old!

Answer:
I couldn't have said it any better...the race card is just an excuse to throw up when illegals are forced to deal with the truth of being illegal.

I have being trying to convince people that race and illegal immigration are two totally separate issues. I'm from German descent, and I would be just as mad as I am now if there were 12 million illegal Germans in the country.

If Bush thinks that 80% of America are racist just because we don't support this bill then he has other problems...so I guess according to him those who did not support Iraq are racist then too, huh?

And to people like Angela who have responded to this question, I think people like her fail to realize that some of the sayings Americans have heard such as "white Americans are lazy" can be taken as racist and a stereotype just as well...the only difference is that this IS our legal country where the people she supports should not have any say in any issue because they are illegal.
Bush said the 80% of Americans who are opposed to his Leave No Illegal Alien Behind Act are racist.

Bush also knows better than the 67% opposed too his Israeli / Neocon war of Aggression in Iraq.

Then again Jesus told him first hand that he is right so I guess most of us are wrong.
it depends on your solution. If you think that the problem is entirely the illegals and that they are inferior and should be kept out...you are a racist. If you believe that American companies are using them illegally and should be stopped before the government starts setting up machine guns along the border, then you're not
First of all, everyone is guilty of racism in someway.

Secondly, it's a broad generalization and they are being made about everyone on every side of the immigration debate.
I dont think that the argument is totally bunk---and just playing the race card----I hear many conservatives talk about their fears of the US becoming a "brownish-yellow" nation---in which upper class whites will lose the power that they have always had here----I was kinda taken aback when I first heard this---
It isn't racism, it is simply criminality. Even if an American is a criminal they would be against amnesty and immigration reform unless that law helped them as well! All that law does is make it so that the government doesn't have to work the borders efficiently!
No everybody against illegal immigration isn't racist. But there are some who are. And in the same regard everybody who is for Immigration Reform aren't racist either. It goes both ways.
Hmmm, so calling Mexican immigrants cockroaches, wet backs, dirty and breeders is not racist? Granted you may not feel that way, but many here do! They all get thumbs up for making such statements...

I have never said white people are lazy, because I know better. If you have such a problem with the illegality, why not point out the "illegal" employers? Or this "illegal" govt. who looks the other way? Why do you just focus on the illegals and resort to name calling?
Not everyone, but Angela is right, what would YOU call all of the name calling and insulting that goes on here? Friendly conversation?
So that must mean that everybody who is FOR illegal immigration is a model citizen and non-racist, right? What kind of horsepucky is that?

The proponents of illegal immigration -- I can hardly type the words, they're so alien to me -- should spend less time arguing against enforcing the law and more time advocating whatever changes in the law they want.

Get their proposed changes out on the table; but then be willing to abide by the will of the American people after it's been hashed out.

In this country, you have freedom of speech to advocate your position. This does not mean that you have the right to prevail regardless of whether or not your arguments are successful in bringing a majority over to your position. Without a majority behind you, your fervent conviction that you occupy the moral high ground is worthless. And it should be.
Pulling the race card is kind of someone's only option when they have no answer to the problem of ILLEGAL immigration. The question is not immigration, or past immigration, or great great grandchildren of (legal or illegal) immigrants from wherever and whatever color.

It's just putting the person who objects to opening their borders on the defensive.

A nation without borders is NOT a nation. How can people see otherwise? A lot of people arguing this issue are those who have sworn to protect this nation from its enemies, foreign and domestic.

It's not a "racial" issue. It appears that way because the vast majority of the ILLEGAL immigrants are coming from one particular country, with a different national language and most (but not all) of those people have a visibly different racial make up.

Plenty of Germans emmigrated to Latin America at the close of World War 2. Their grandchildren, of northern European descent, I object to illegally immigrating just as much and for the same reasons as I do any other illegal immigrant.
They are more xenophobic and arrogant than racist, but I doubt a bunch of people willing to go out into the hot desert to hunt for certain people love those people. No, they probably hate them with all their heart. And I don't doubt more than a few of the reported number have been killed by minutemen and border patrol.

Edit: White people, in no way do I think Aztlaners are right, racism exist in every race/social group. That is all.
I certainly hope a few of the people above are not implying that it is only the anti illegal people who call names and insult. I'm quite sure they have seen racist terms like red neck, white trash, gringo etc. thrown our way. I'm also sure they've seen the threats of Americans being conquered, thrown out of their own country, being beaten and even killed. They couldn't be so biased as to turn a blind eye when it is those who agree with them doing this ,could they? Gosh, that would be hypocritical.
no, but some of you anti-illegals blame mostly Mexicans and then more people start saying they hate them. or they are destroying AMerica, they single out only one group and further attck them and they don't realize how racist the thing they are saying are.
