Do you think Native Americans considered the pilgrims "illegal aliens"?
Answer:
I would guess so, I mean they were undocumented...and Mexicans were the natives too, many people forget that..Isn't it ironic how now they tell them to get off 'their' land...
People are ruining other people's lives over paper instead of helping them. It's just land and everybody has the right to live a good life. We're all citizens of earth, we all bleed red and cry clear, what's so hard to understand?
Yes. Most likely. That could be why they FOUGHT with us, just like we're doing with the ILLEGAL nachos. The differnce is, America will win, will continue to be an English country. You can only bite the hand that feeds you for so long ...
on one level, i think the indians did not consider the pilgrims illegal aliens because it was not an established country at that time.
on a more realistic level, i think that their opinion is irrelevant. that was hundreds of years ago and its time to get over it. white guilt is bs and has gone too far.
For the most part Natives were welcoming and helpful. They didn't judge the pilgrims. They helped them learn to live here.
It is an interesting concept huh? Welcoming people into our nation. Anyhow after they saw the atrocious acts committed by the colonizers then their opinions did change. Acts such as Torture, Rape, Kidnapping, Land Theft, Genocide, and Cultural Genocide. At this time they were definately considered unwanted. Still, Many Native leaders preached peace and the welcoming of these people because that is culturally appropriate. The depictions of Natives as savages and as war like are culturally inaccurate and inappropriate.
So it is funny that the descendents of people who were welcomed warmly into this country are now turning the tables. Well, they always have been this way. Even though they are immigrants they don't want other immigrants to be here. It is all driven by Greed.
And to respond to another users comments. The past is still relevant today. Oppression still exists today because of the past. And intergenerational trauma, similar to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, still exists today. It refers to passing down trauma generation after generation. So someone can still feel pain that was experienced in the past especially if there are modern day triggers such as cultural ignorance, racism, and continued oppression.
I am a Native woman.
"Native" Americans are not native to this continent at all. DNA testing proves once and for all that Indians are merely Asians who followed the land bridge. (This is why Indians have a mongoloid-shaped, Asian skull and black hair.)
The oldest known remains ever found in both north and south America are that of Kennewick Man, found along the banks of the Columbia River. Kennewick man was white not Indian/Asian.
When the white man arrived for a second time to the Americas they found that the Indian/Asians hadn't yet invented the wheel and regularly practiced cannibalism.
White folks created the greatest, freest and most prosperous society the world has ever known.
