Is it possible for me to file an immigration application for my husband on my own?

I am a trying to start the immigration application process for my husband ( a Mexican Citizen ) but am not sure if I should fill out the forms on my own or resort to professionals. I ask this because the fees are about to be increased ( in some cases almost tripled ) and the immigration consultants charge you from $900-$1000 to do all the paper work for me. I honestly think it's way too much, so I want to hear from people who have gone through the process on their own. Please help!

Answer:
Believe me, unless there is some major problem, like your husband being a felon or illegal alien, there's no reason to hire a professional to fill out the forms.

Just remember to answer each question. When your finished read the instructions over again and then review each answer.

**********As an illegal alien he has to leave the country for you to petition him. That's the ONLY way. There's no other option. When he's interviewed for his visa they will deny it. At that time you will need to file a hardship waiver petition for him. If successful it's going to take you a couple years. If not successful he could be banned for up to 10 years from reentering the United States.

You should consider retaining the services of a good, board certified, immigration attorney.
I did the entire process myself. All the forms are available online or at the ICE office. They are pretty much self-explanatory. God bless!
I believe you can fill in the answers yourself but your husband would have to sign them. Maybe with a notary.
You can do yourself. However, it might take you more time and efforts. All the forms are available on the web. Each of them has instructions and fees listed. Having a lawyer might save you a lot of headaches. Depending where you live you might be able to get free immigration counseling. There are certain organizations that do that, like Catholic Charities, Lutheran Family Services etc.
