Working in the US without green card?
Answer:
once caught you are eligible to be thrown out. why on earth not do it the legal way, as the spouse of a USA citizen you don't go into the lottery of green cards you GET one, just pays your money like everyone else is doing [IE MY SELF]
EDIT : yes i bloody know ITS expensive but then as the set of papers your husband / spouse signs STATES he will handle and cover all your expenses..and just been told today that as of the end of JULY this year I130 and the 485 will be going up price wise a HUGE amount...get them in now or be paying double very soon, besides as you well know amensty will NOT be covering you or me [from the UK] so why bother waiting for it, if you get kicked out you have to wait 7 years to come back [so I have been told]
A Canadian is just like any other foreigner. You cannot work without authorization. Actually -- I take that back. Canadians can come into the US on the visa waiver program. They have to be extra careful to follow the rules because they have less rights -- in a way, they even less rights even than a person who enters the US illegally.
In this case it's ok because he's Canadian. Were he Mexican, you would see the following answers to your question:
"GO HOME, ILLEGAL"
"BUILD A HIGHER WALL"
"TAKE YOUR ANCHOR BABIES WITH YOU"
There are more stupid answers people give but I can't remember them right now..good luck!
Get one its not a big deal.
Since he is from Canada, he has entered the US legally, although his work status is not very admirable. However, regardless of how he entered, he IS eligible to file for his Permanent Residency at the same time that you file an Immigrant Petition for him. Once he applies for this benefit, he can then apply for his Employment Authorization Document. The EAD will be issued no later than 3 months after applying. He can work here in the US, live here legally without worry, until he receives his Permanent Resident card. Yes, it is very expensive to file, but you should file before June 30th if at all possible... You will be astonished at the cost of Permant Residency after that. It costs more than it does to apply for Citizenship after this date... The price of the forms are going up on that date. For more information, call USCIS' Customer Service Line.
