Why don't you classify Immigrants according to Religions in five groups: Catholics, Muslims, Protestants, Jews

people should not be classified into groups, we are all brothers and sisters, no better then each other, all the same to God.

I only classify imigrants in 2 groups--legal and illegal.
In answer to your question, if you include all immigrants -- legal and illegal, the largest group would be catholic. The smallest group would probably be buddhists.

Umm... Catholics and Protestants are both of the same religion, Christianity.
I think this would be complex to say the least and would not work for a lot of people who do not fall into other minor groups.

You've left out Hindus, Agnostics, and people who don't identify with any religion, or define themselves by their religion. I believe Hindus or Muslims would be the largest number. I would also recommend changing Catholics and Protestants to Christians. Don't want to irk the Anglicans or Baptists or Methodists. :o)
because its in someway racist, why does religion matter? In America, government and religion are separate. Why should we start combining them now? Thats un-American and it goes against for what we stand for!
Protestant and Catholic would be classified under one religion Christianity and combined they would be the largest group so the rest would be the minorities.

I hope you realize that your proposal is unconstitutional. That would be religious discrimination because if you allowed more of one than another, it would establish a religion.
Better stick with country of origin.

to me Catholics is the biggest number ( i am an inmigrant also), and then second of all (muslims) we have half of africa, palestinians, irak and the other ones in here, but sadly they do not count jews as inmigrant, cause they already own half of the country and the wealthy part too.
