You are correct. If there were no amnesty or cheap labor, they would have to automate their fields. Does the cotton gin give a hint to what should be done. No amnesty call the your senator and the white house
Ya..I'll give you that. Most of the farmers I knew needed help and paid anyone well, that would do the job. Some of these places just use people for lower wages. How low can I go and still have someone do it? I realize alot of these places go by the pound, bucket, whatever. But they aren't any different than those that go by the piece or commission only. Or those that use "part time" to mean anything from 3 hrs. to 60 in order to avoid other laws that would apply. I worked at places where part time was varied. ONLY full time people got benefits. So they'd hire you part time...then short you 1 hr. so you couldn't qualify for full time benefits. Or qualify for un-employment. Instead of obeying laws.people spend most of their time trying not to and big business is a major problem with that. For every law inacted to help people..they find a way out of it.
Your argument does not make any sense. You are basically saying that food producers in this country are slave owners, but then you are arguing that the Immigration Bill should be stopped. Then you suggest that American security and sovereignty are at stake. None of this makes any sense, and leaves open a lot of unanswered questions and innuendo.
1. If food producers lose their cheap labor, where will we get food from? Who else is going to do the work?
2. The Mexicans who take these jobs do so of their own free will, knowing that it is BETTER than working in Mexico. You are right that they are not provided fair wages, but how is getting rid of the Immigration bill going to make any difference in that? Are you suggesting getting rid of them? If so, see point #1. Or are you suggesting giving them better wages? If so, then say so.
3. You state some vague statement about American security and sovereignty, but provide absolutely no link between this and your argument against the growers and producers of food. So what is your point there?
Is the Immigration Reform Bill a good idea? Heck if I know, but it is a start. I don't see anyone here who is against it providing any reasonable alternative to it.
