Answer:
yes, it is
Yes. There is a minimum wage which is a statutory law.

Assuming we are talking about the UK

.
you are getting a good deal now shut and get back to work or go back home
Yes it is check out the link bellow.

It`s disgusting to pay someone £2 per hour theses days, would you work for that???
yes it is and its just not right for someone to take advantage of another like that
ABSOLUTELY.

1. Our national miimum wage is 5.15 so that is what they should be being paid (at least)
2. It is illegal to work more than 48 hours a week unless you have signed a waiver.
3. If they are a student I am not even sure if their visa allows them to work at all.
Depends on how old they are and if you are providing additional services such as free food or accomodation.
Yes it is. Everyone under 18 who is of more than school leaving age is entitled to receive more than £3.30 an hour. Between 18 and 21 the minimum wage is £4.45, and over 21 it is £5.35.

Visit http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/nmw/ for more information and you can also lay a complaint against your employer here too.
Good grief, yes! The minimum wage in the UK is £5.15. That's the law and employers have to abide by that.
Yes it is but, it is also illegal for anyone here on a student visa to work that many hours and the person you are working for knows that and thats why he is paying you so low. You will be in trouble if you report him.
of course it is - the UK has a national minimum wage which is age related. You can look it up on the net. It's also illegal to expect anyone to work 72 hours a week.
My understanding of it is that a trainee can be paid less than Minimum wage, its the loophole in the law that allows the Government to pay around £1 per hour under its Training schemes such as New Deal etc for working a normal 40 hour week
Can't have much time to be a "student" working those hours no matter what the pay.
If the student is dumb enough to work for it, then I say his employer is laughing his socks off.
In the UK, I do not have clue
Yes it is. We have a minimum wage, you exploiter of the vulnerable. We also have the working time directive that protects workers from excessive hours.
Anyway, even with a proper visa, your student can't work that many hours.
Yes it is, report them to the Trade and Industry.
That is modern day slave labour!

legally no but if you do not have a national insurance number or pay tax then it must be illegal working and working 72 hours per week must be for a security company and as a student you can only work 23 hours legally, if it is for a security company you will soon need a criminal records check from your own country and you will need your licence to continue working.
very illegal. specially you are an intl student. first there is a minimum wage andthen second you can only work a number of hours a week. and definitely not 72 hours.
