Does jail pick up on legal resident convicted felons?
But when I called the Sherrif's office, they said that they run every inmate's name through the system as a pre-sentence investigation, and nothing about his status came up. He is here legally, but is not a citizen, and thus is subject to deportation, right? What do you think will happen now?
Answer:
I think if he is here legally, he will stay in prison. Once his sentence is up, he should be deported.
Keep calling ICE. Have friends and family call them as well.
Thank you for doing the right thing.
our immigration enforcement is a joke. The system is extremely flawed.
Sadly, nothing will probably happen to your Ex
The first poster is correct. Sadly, our immigration enforcement is a joke. However, you can increase the probability of a favorable outcome by staying on top of the case and hounding (within legal constraints, of course) ICE until they do something. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and all.
Firstly, you did the right thing by reporting him. We sure don't need any more criminals in this country. I agree with the other respondents - I doubt anything will be done to your ex-husband. But at least you tried. This is really frightening that he will be back on the streets when he does get out of jail though. If he sexually assaulted one person - who's next?? These sex offenders usually don't ever learn their lesson.
