So this Amnesty deal... Will it create a whole new group of Minorities?
they need to pay a whole $5,000.00 dollars to get on the path to citizenship... (as if that would make a dent in the cost of them being here)...
Does this deal only cater to the WEALTHIEST illegal immigrants? Will the ones that can't afford it just pack up and leave?
Answer:
1) Yes, obviously this introduces an economic filter. That's similar to legal immigration, whereby unless you're applying under refugee status, you're expected to be able to demonstrate sufficient assets to support yourself. And part of that "demonstrating" is having enough money to pay the associated fees.
2) Of course they're not going to go home. They'll just stay here and continue to be illegal.
3) It also does little to nothing to address future illegal immigration. With the exception that we continue to reinforce the idea that, if you can sneak in illegally, and can survive in an underground labor economy, eventually we'll introduce another round of amnesty that will allow you to jump ahead of anyone else on the planet who's actually followed our legal immigration procedures (silly b@stards.)
And to Poodle - I'm fortunate enough to know I'm actually quite informed. The issue is "legal" versus "illegal" immigration, NOT whether immigrants should be here, or work hard, or are looking for a better life. I'm assuming that you're simply advocating the elimination of all immigration laws, and operating on a "if you can make it here from anywhere in the world, you should have the right to be here". I'd be really interested to see the economic model that will support that, as when it's been tried for short periods with other 1st world countries (think Britain immediately after the dissolution of the Commonwealth) it's been an absolute disaster. But, in the interest of being informed, please share.
Im not a big fan either but i think its the best we can do. People complain about them riding on our tax dollars, which is completley true. But how expensive do you think it would be to deport every single illegal immigrant in this country. At least they're kind of paying for themselves and it will ween out the complete free loaders that dont have a dime to piss on.
It also makes further illegal immigration very punishable.
Do your really think this is going to get anywhere five years from now they will still tell us there working on it still. FIRE THEM ALL THEY ARE CROOKS!
This is bull. first of all, they are all felons for being here illegally already, but seems we are going to just bury that. Second, they haven't been paying taxes, another felon, but if i did it they would lock me up. And they can bring their whole families with them?!?!?!?!
OK so lets say they become legal, they have to start being paid minimum wage at least. Well the cheap business owners who were paying them under the table before won't want to pay more now, so what happens, MORE illegals to do the grunt work for less. Never ending cycle. LOCK THE DMAN BORDERS!!
Thats what it's all going to boil down to eventually.
Its going to be the survival of the richest and #### everyone else anyway.
yes, it will. our nation will be finished as we now know it.
Not in my lifetime. They'll just remain illegal. By the way, what gov't agency is going to be doing all the checking on the Z Visa's, paying the fines and tracking down the ones who don't comply? This gov't can't even gurantee security right now to Americans. What a joke!
Unless you are Native American...you better check you are from immigrant parents...it does not cost us to have them here...they work like dogs, get ripped off by Americans, robbed and whatever and all they are trying to do is earn a living and raise their families just like you or your parents...Hitler said the same thing about the Jews and by now we should learn from such propaganda that singles out a culture for being a burden on this country. Many people come from different parts of the world and we help them...as for the ones who make it here from Mexico...I am glad they can and I would help them if I knew how.they are kind, respectful, generous, hard working, peaceful, religious, and think that we are going to treat them fair. One man who took care of all the irrigation, in Davis, CA, for some rich honky in the midwest, was paid 400 dollars a month, given the junk food that fell from the trucks, lived in squallar, was threatened with deportation, had no life or way to get off the desolate property the owner dropped him one...and was grateful to get what he had...in the end the owner never paid him and sent the sheriff to go get him...i helped him escape to Texas to a friend of mine...now he is being treated fairly by a good rancher who is glad to have such and honest hard worker. so for me I think that the Mexicans who are already here should be given amnesty and the fine to be paid for in the eight years...and a chance to stand tall without fear...welcome to America my brother and sister. P.S. if you are white, then you better take a good look cause you may be the minority...in fact we are the minority...thought I wasn't white...I am celtic from Irish immigrants...
What it will create is a whole new, much bigger even, wave of illegal immigrants to take the place of the "previously" illegal immigrants so the businesses have a fresh crop of slave labor.
You really need to look up more of the information on the need for amnesty and immigration reform. There is alot of misinformed people believing hear say and prejudice comments and misinformation by the local media. Let me help clear some things up for you.
1. Over 74% of the illegal (Hispanic) population that I know of - just to clarify your "minority" question - have been paying legal taxes for over 15yrs yet are not legal to benefit from the taxes they pay such as Social Security, health benefits from empolyers, or can apply for assistance from Social Services.
2. They are not living off of welfare system! This is a myth! Many of our illegal minorities use the health department to receive medical assistance because they usually have staff available that speak their languages and are able to get adequate medical care. They are billed as well as you and I. I have volunteered for these social service offices in the health care system and I can honestly tell you, in our city, they pay cash for their services. Maybe not all at once but I have not seen more than 22 people on these payment lists that have not pd in full their medical care bills for maternity care and hospital bills (these are the only ones I know personally that are illegal hispanics) versus the American citizen collection list the has more than 2000 people that owe as much as $1500 or more owed to the local Health Department just this year alone and have not even made an attempt to pay! Who would you rather help - economically speaking - the illegal who consistantly pays his bills in cash or the American citizen living off the system that owes the county thousands of dollars in health care? Where would your tax dollars go?
3. I do not beleive they should have to pay a $3000 to $5000 fine if they have consitantly pd taxes for the past 5 years, have a clean criminal background check - their country and ours- and a continuos work history! They have already pd the fine in the past 5 yrs or more just paying their fair share of taxes.
4 Bush's daddy back in the early 1990's had a great idea. He was failing at the attempt to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into this country and the cost to have them deported could not be found so he decided to advertise - not publicly announced mostly underground - allowing people to apply for a form W-7. This allowed those who could not get a SS# to receive a Tax ID number to pay their taxes legally. We the US citizens have been benefiting from the taxes they have paid. It has been our "government" that has misappropriated these funds and used them for areas and programs that this was not intended for by Bush's daddys original idea. He thought that the collection of taxes from the illegal immigrants could be put into an account and with in 7 yrs the social security account could be boosted a great deal since they were illegal that there was a slim chance the money would ever be collected benefiting legal Americans.
Like I said before, it is better to be informed that to follow blindly like a sheep. Read, ask questions, talk to those people directly effected, and then make a decision on how you may feel.
Remember, there are many illegal immigrants in this country and not only hispanics! We recently had here in Charlotte NC 23 Turkish illegal immigrants trying to "buy" Drivers licenses from a DMV cashier - a sting was set up and they were caught on the spot. The 9 people of Israli and Pakistani decent (4 were born here!) planning an attack on Fort Dix!
The Russian group that were trying to steal American women off the streets of New York and Chicago to sell to the brothels and sex slave market in Europe and Russia (3yrs ago).
Don't pass judgement until you are truely informed. Search any and every article-documents - organization to make your decision please. Below are just a couple you can look at.
You pretty much got it right...Nobody said it had to be fair.
Now didn't you hear our President say it isn't amnesty? It's "comprehensive immigration reform"! And we're expected to believe that.
This bill is a disgrace, judging by what I've heard so far. I hope it doesn't pass. Some congress members on both sides are against it. They see it for what it is. They can't possibly read it in a week, let alone sign it. (That's what Mr. Bush has asked). They're in a hurry to get it passed. It's part of the big picture for the wealthy, but not wealthy illegal aliens.
No, they won't go home if Geraldo has anything to say about it. He is starting a charity fund to help pay the fine, but someone did the math, and he'll need about $60 billion. Gee, where's Bill Gates when Geraldo needs him? :)
By the way, who will monitor and escort them back to their home when it's time?
