Is it a good time to initiate green card application process?

With last visa bulletin all EB categories for Green card is current now. Does that mean initiating a green card process now is a good idea? Can someone expect to get the EAD within 2 years now?

Answer:
The EB categories are current as of July 1. Thus, if you have an approved labor certification, you can petition for the green card on July 1 if you are in the Third Preference Category. If you do not have an approved labor certification, you must either qualify under the First or Second Preference Category (in which case the backlog wouldn't have effected you anyway), or file for a labor certification.

EADs generally arrive within 90 days of filing the green card application. Most EB cases are processing in about 12 to 18 months (depending on where you live).

Good luck!
