What do you think Hispanic drivers lead state in DWI stats ?
Hispanic drivers involved in motor vehicle crashes are more likely to be intoxicated than members of other ethnic and racial groups, according to statistics compiled by state researchers.
The study by the Highway Safety Research Center at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill was based on information from law enforcement agencies. It states that 7.04 percent of Hispanic drivers involved in crashes in 2005 were intoxicated, compared with 4.87 percent of Native Americans, 2.82 percent of whites and 2.28 percent of blacks.
Hispanics "are more likely on average to be suspected of drinking in crashes that police officers investigate," research center database specialist Eric Rodgman said.
Cultural differences and limited knowledge of U.S. laws might be driving the trend, law enforcement officials and community leaders said. Efforts are being made to develop education programs in the wake of recent high-profile fatal crashes.
The numbers encompass the entire Hispanic community, and officials say it is important to convey the message of responsible driving to all Spanish-speaking residents in North Carolina, regardless of their legal status and education level.
Harvest of death on the Eastern Shore where it is reported that while 5% of the population is Hispanic in the area, they are involved in 25% of the fatal traffic accidents, an astounding 5 times as much participation as representation! Given the fact that most of the Hispanic community is, like other ethnic groups, law abiding and responsible citizens, that means that the illegal alien portion of the Hispanic community is even worse. How much worse no one knows because no one is tracking it.
A review of State Police auto accident reports for 2002 through 2004 for that area of the Eastern Shore also revealed that of the 179 accidents involving Hispanic laborers:
· 75% of the drivers had no auto insurance.
· Nearly all of the vehicles driven by migrants were registered to other drivers.
· 93% of the vehicles had false out-of-state tags.
In 2003 and 2004, 128 of the 395 people, 32.4%, arrested on DUI charges were Hispanic, a rate six times greater than the Hispanic portion of the population.
The article goes on, “When crashes occur, it is not uncommon for Hispanic drivers – often intoxicated and unlicensed – to flee before troopers arrive. According to State Police records, about a third of accidents involving migrant workers are hit-and-run. State Trooper Koushel said migrants often cannot be conclusively identified when they’re stopped for a violation or involved in an accident.” “Many”, he said, “are illegal aliens who carry fake or invalid driver’s licenses”. “Because of that”, he said, “many fail to show up in court. It’s almost like writing a ticket to a ghost.”
Answer:
It does not surprise me in the least, any of it.
Then again, maybe it is best that they flee the scene, in some instances

A Tyler Texas trooper pulled over an illegal for speeding, he did survive the point blank shooting shown on his dashcam.
This brings up several points, they need to be arrested on the spot, as they become ghosts after they get in trouble, and God knows most probably buy a new fake ID after something like that. And since these are just "poor innocent people working hard for a better life" *spew* people need to realize that these people broke a felony law coming here illegally, what is a bit of drinking and driving after that?
Funny, they can walk miles and miles to get here illegally, but if they are drunk, they can't walk home??
Disrespect for the laws just breeds more of the same.
Now does anyone see why I want illegals deported?
I believe it. My last community was 40% hispanic and the newspaper's arrest log showed almost all DUIs went to hispanics.

Are we supposed to be surprised? They begin their journey to our country illegally, what's a few more broken laws? Why do you think everyone who has auto insurance is paying more now? Just another hidden cost of these people that we need so bad.
Excuse me MRS. MARTIAN, I guess you didn't read the whole article before spouting off at the mouth. And your powers of observation failed to recognize the newspaper is printed in NORTH CAROLINA.

Gee, where did you get your fine education? I bet next you are going to tell me that these STATISTICS are racist, right. I will be awaiting your enlightened response.......
Because many forget they are behind the wheel of a motor vehicle , when they decide to have a "siesta",,,,,
Just one of many reasons to secure the border. Twelve Americans are killed every day by drunk illegals.
oh yes and there all rapists and taking our jobs and muderers and theyre gonna take our country.. stop being scared of everyone that hasnt roots in northern europe
EXCUSE ME SPARKY! Here in new mexico the population is mainly hispanic and for your information and to help your ignorance the majority of new mexicans are not even mexican. so to say that all hispanics started off illegally is just a display of your ignorance and lack of education.
So are you assuming that all Hispanics are illegal. When there is a large portion of the Hispanic population who is legal.
You are not to tell by looking at a person if they are legal or illegal.
My thought on this. It has to do with population not a culture or stereotype. If there is a large Hispanic population there will be a increase in all aspects of the Hispanic population.
Isn't cell phone usage while driving causing more accidents than drunk driving?
A good point a lot of these accidents leave out that people will have medical bills well into the thousands.
The statistics will change depending on the State you live in and the percentages of Hispanics that live in the State. It is just as easy to find links to sites proving that. Did you mean any Hispanic? I thought this was immigration not bash a culture category.
