Should an employer be held accountable for an unsafe work environment for illegal immigrants?

Not to mention holding the employer accountable for hiring an illegal immigrant in the first place?

An employer should be accountable to provide a safe environment for all employees. He should not be hiring illegal aliens. He could hire legal immigrants however.

Yes, all employers should be held accountable for hiring undocumented workers to work in deplorable conditions. Their safety should be the priority, not their legal status.
Every employee has rights regardless of legal or illegal status as they are in that country and subject to the same protections. An employer or company can definately run into trouble and legal problems if they are found to have illegals because they are not paying the taxes the government would receive otherwise.
An employer can hire whomever they want to hire because America is a capitalist country. If they want to hire immigrants rather than citizens they can do that since no one has a constitutional right to a job.

In a free, capitalist country all employees are employed at will and can quit at any time if they are not satisfied with the working conditions.

An employer should be held accountable for a safe work environment regardless of the person's legal status. If the work environment isn't safe for one person, it's not safe for anyone and it will end up hurting many people in the long run.

And more importantly, the fact that someone is here illegally doesn't make them any less of a human being.

Now, if there be any untoward incident in the workplace, I doubt if this illegal immigrant will seek justice or resort to file charges. it is quite obvious because if this illegal immigrant file a lawsuit he will be discovered as illegal immigrant...
They SHOULD be held accountable for hiring an illegal immigrant. If they decide to break the law that doesn't mean they shouldn't be held accountable for an unsafe work environment. Illegal immigrants are entitled to fair treatment by their employers, just as any employee is. It's unfortunate that some employers believe that they can take advantage of illegal immigrants because they know the illegals won't contact the labor board for violations.
Yes to both. Unfortunately the costs get passed on to the taxpayers/consumers in some fashion if the illegal gets hurt, and sues the employer. Or can't pay the hospital bill.
So Joe is pro slavery. One of the reason I am against illegal immigration is that the illegal immigrants are vulnerable to abuses. Employers go out of the way to hire illegalimmigrants, because they do not have to provide reasonable work condition and they know illegal immigrants are less likely to sue or report the employer for his illegal activites.
As an employer myself, we are accountable for all safety issues related in and around our work areas whether legal immigrants or not. We employers face same cosequences for providing work conditions no matter who is working or standing by innocently. We also pay big for hiring them illegally.

absolutely. Both employer and employee should be held accountable.employer for hiring and employee for being an illegal. Should work both ways.
