Shoulr pro illegal immigrant hate groups like La Raza be charged with hate crime legislation?
Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan
"Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada."
"Everything for the race. Everything outside the race, nothing."
When non-Raza students complained about this UC San Diego student student newspaper as being racist, MEChA was one of about 20 Raza organizations pledging their support for this publication of hate. Antonio Villaraigosa, Cruz Bustamante, Raul Grijalva, and other prominent Latino politicians say to this day, that they are proud to have been Mechistas. "General membership shall consist of any student who accepts, believes and works for the goals and objectives of MEChA, including the liberation of AZTLAN, meaning self-determination of our people in this occupied state and the physical liberation of our land."
Answer:
The should be charged with sedition and promoting treason against the citizens of the United States. Sedition carries a longer federal prison sentence than a hate crime.
So at what point did they commit a crime?
DEFINITELY.
Yep, it's a hate crime and yep, they should be punished accordingly.
Well...I don't know...I'm kinda confused about their theme. Sorry, I'm so out of it today.
What was the crime?
yes they should, the feds went after the kkk for the same reason.
They should be regarded in the same light as the KKK, they are a racist organization.
NO!!! VIVA LA RAZA!!!
Groups like La Raza and MECHa are racist and have separatist ideologies. They corrupt young ppl to believe in their bullcrap propaganda.
It is free speech I do not agree with the student groups views just like I do not agree with the views of the KKK, but I do think they have a right to say it. I do wonder though how a university can officially sanction this as a student group. Do the black panthers or the KKK have UCSD Chapters?
They're definetely a hate group, but I agree with Armywife(GASP), they have to commit a crime as a group to be charged a hate crime. THe great thing is that it makes it easier to add the hate crime multiplier to any member of these groups when they do perform a crime.
To those who are against hate crime being a law , I have to say hate crime is just a smaller version of terrorism. Terrorism is an attempt to generate fear in a community (United States). Hate crime is an attempt to generate fear in a smaller community (a particular race).
As for Villaragosa, I don't think we have to worry about his membership to any La Raza group. He's corrupt and is under the pockets of developers. He's been attacking immigrants living and working in the downtown area on behest of the developers. To those who don't understand, he's shoving out the latino's in downtown and replacing it with white people. I'm not saying its a good thing he's doing that, but at least we could control his alleged racism with greed. I think its how America is actually dealing with La Raza members in prominent position. It stupid that we have become like English colonies in Africa. The stupid thing is most hispanic ignore Vilaragosa's corruption. Racism in the hispanic population probably will help him get re-elected and the problems of the hispanic community would be ignored in favor of the rich.
Yes, definitely!
