I have a friend that is trying get a passport. He has an alcohol theft felony, will he be allowed a passport?

He is trying to get a passport to go to England by December. I heard that because he has a felony that they might not give him a passport, is this true? The felony was for alcohol theft about a year ago, and he's still going to court for it. Any help would be great! Also, if you find information on a website, please leave the link in your answer so that I can find it myself. Thanks so much!

Answer:
He will be fine,,they do not do background checks for regular passports,,unless he is going to try and get an "Official" or "Diplomatic", passport, but a regular one,,he will be fine,,,
I believe that he can not! Check with the government and get your answer from them.
If he is still going to court have the actual charges been made and recorded, as case closed ?
Good luck on that one! Anyone convicted of a felony is going to have a hard time doing anything legally. I suggest using a false name and doctoring the picture. Other than that it's a waste of time and money.
