Do you think this is why we have lots of illegals in the US?
One of my friends is married to a US citizen. They fall in love just like everyone of us..these two met in college, was dating, met the parents, then got married. This year is their third year together as a married couple, this year is their seven years together since they started dating. Still, they still have pile loads of paper works to be filled for INS in addition to thousands of dollars they have spent on paper works and applications.
Now, when they make it hard for those who try to follow the law, it seems more convenient to just skip and break them. What do you think?
FYI: I know why INS is strict, above is just a thought.

I think that is only a small part of the reason. I think that most illegal immigrants have less than a high school education, I would even guess that most have less than 6th grade. Educated ones do it legally because they know that in the long run that is the best way. Uneducated people are like children who want instant gratification and they do not plan ahead, so they do not want to wait to do things the right way. You can see this also in the way that uneducated, poor people have multiple children, not planning ahead and thinking about the fact that they cannot afford them. Educated people plan to have the number of children that they can adequately afford. There are many other reasons and causes of illegal immigration but I put the largest blame on our government for not securing the borders, not following up on visa-overstayers, and just plain NOT enforcing our immigration laws. I think making new immigration laws is not the answer - what makes us think they will enforce new laws, when they have never even enforced the old ones? As well, it would go a very long way towards discouraging illegal immigration if the government would plug the "anchor baby" loophole and stop allowing illegal immigrants access to any social benefits, including schools, welfare, medical care, etc.
Why should they be excused from filling out the proper documents? If they don't fill out the forms and just ignore them, now you have what is called illegal immigration. Perhaps they should go about it the usual way, give birth to an anchor baby.
I'm sure I'm going to get a thousand thumbs down, but I agree. People don't realize how hard it is to come legally or become legal once you're here. If you try to come from another country, you have to be put on a waiting list and pay a ton of money, and still, most people never even get a visa just to visit, much less stay. For many, it's much cheaper and easier to just come illegally.
since it is by law they have to be married for seven years if I'm not mistaken ( i could be) so their is not fake marriages going around.
Plus we want the best the brightest and people who want to live and work to capture the American dream. That is the reason why there is a line trying to get in and why the majority of people from Mexico think it's unfair because they are don't reach any of the qualification listed above
A lot of the paper work is annoying and confusing. Even the most educated people who are filling out the paper work and having to go through the interviews find i frustrating. The long waits for a visa and the confusing and difficult procedures definitely plays a role in this, but it is still no excuse for people to illegal enter any nation. Really the paper work is made to make sure people who want to come to the US are really committed. Just think of it as immigrant hazing.
So your friend still broke the law, she did over stay her visa.
Good thought.This is one of the reasons.The other reasons are is that it costs a lot of money and filling out those forms can be very time consuming and difficult.On the other hand,the "coyotes" are now charging 7,000usd plus 5% interest.Compared to the 5,000usd it costs(from visa to green card) to immigrate legally,the legal way is safer and cheaper also.
