Since Presidential candidates are avoiding the illegal immigration issue, should it be put on a ballot?

Answer:
yes, the American people should be the ones voting on it.
No.
Too late. The House is slated to vote next week on this issue.
You have a good point, but all it will do is waste time and money because the majority of the Americans are against illegal immigration. We already know that no matter what the majority of the people wants, the government will do what it pleases.
yes it should, i asked earlier how many people think this is an issue the American people should vote on!! i believe so!!
Ballot? For What? We don't enforce the law's we have!! Why are we having more votes on this crap??
The term "ILLEGAL" denotes a CRIME. I wish our Gov. both sides would forget the political posturing and just enforce the laws on the books !!
Yes, with a lottery worth at least 25 million dollars, that way not only can be vote, to use the words of Cheney, we can vote big time.
Furry I couldn't have said it any better. I wish it were put on the ballot even if our government would still vote as they please. At least the American voices would be heard.
it will never get that far, politicians will not the people vote on this matter since the soon to be illegal voters will mostly vote liberal. You will never see it on a ballet.

Plus the only two people running for the house who have said anything against illegals is Mitt Romney and Congressman Tom Tancredo
No, it should not be put on a ballot. That's not how we do things in the US. Demand that the candidates address the issue. We all know that John McCain loves illegal aliens, and he is for this new Senate bill. Romney, Tancredo, Paul, and Hunter are against it. Guiliani has been a big fan of illegal aliens for many years, and he can't be trusted to lead our nation. Brownback voted for last year's awful Kennedy/McCain amnesty bill. All of the Dem candidates are for amnesty for most illegal aliens.

You can visit the candidates sites for more info on their positions on the issues.
I think that it should be put on the ballot,if it were, it would win by a landslide for the people that are against illegal immigration.
It will not happen because the powers that be will do everything they can do to keep it from a referendum vote.
These people up there could care less about the will of the people, they are going to do what they want to do and to hell with their constituents .
There have been measures against illegal immigration that have been voted on and apporved by the people. But the ACLU and other special interest groups always take it to court. It doesn't matter what the majority want in this country.
They just want to make all of them legal, by paying a $5,000 fine and giving them a green card. Yes, it needs to be put on the ballot, & we need hand counted ballots, not electoral tampered with ballots. They are avoiding every issue, check out the SPP on youtube. This is where "they" have planned to combine the US, Canada & Mexico to make the North American Union without congressional or voter approval [this is tyranny]. I wrote my senator on this one, he wrote back & said they are waiting for it to be introduced, they also need to vote on the NAFTA super highway, which he mentioned, which I have heard that they started on already in Texas, it is a six lane highway the will run all the way from Mexico, across the USA on up into Canada. There will be toll roads, all toll booths charging a fee, that will be run by some company from Argentina,(corporate greed). They are also doing everything they can to keep presidential hopeful Ron Paul from any future debates in Michigan, only because the people like him, he is "for" the people, also listen to him on youtube, I mean 'really listen' & the other candidates have been bought & paid for, I'm not kissing anyone's shoes. Ron Paul will save this country, that is going to hell in a hand basket.
i think it's time for the people to say what to do.
people should speak up and say what they want.
and hope some one will hear
Yep! Put it to the people. This is not illegal immigration reform but a means to legalized slavery. Corporate America can't bring blacks over from Africa by boat anymore to exploit for their corp gain, so they insist that we have open borders to let illegals come here to work for $5.15 an hr. (do the math-it actually comes out to $3.00 hr after taxes). The tragedy of all this is those that are coming here have but a 7th & 8th grade education and are unskilled. They really don't realize that they are being exploited and used. Shame on this gov't, the Mexican gov't and corporate America. They're all behind this. What better way for greedy corp America to make huge profits than to replace you at your high paying job with benefits and grab an illegal and pay them a paltry $6.00 an hr. The pity of it all way around!
