History repeats itself, there are lots of lessons to learn from it. We did grant amnesty, back in 1986. And then more came. How do you think with this current bill, we would be able to "get this over with"? Few of the illegal immigrants here are going to be able to afford the 5K fine, and will stay "off the record". Plus, more will come, and in another 10 or 11 years we will be arguing this again. What we need is legislation that is actually going to work, we need to enforce the things already in place. We, as a nation, are certainly able to handle situations on various fronts - we can work on solutions in Iraq and Darfur, and at the same time take care of our homefront and security issues.
Why not, legalize them, "but" first they have to pass a complete background and if not, back they go,,,,,,,
yes i think so...and why is it that it is very difficult to migrate? gosh it really takes a lot of effort and money.
I think you are wrong. I think illegals should be deported and I think the UN needs to work the Darfur issue.

However, I figure illegals problem has also created domestic problems in our society as well.

i think we need to mind our own business and take care of our own country. bush should have went to iraq after saddam, not our military. god bless our troops.
I think we should be more concerned with the people who are already here instead of bowing to foreigners who make money in the US and send it home. That doesn't really do wonders for our economy. I don't mind them aside from their lack of ability on construction jobs , but my family came over legally a hundred years ago, learned English and put up with crap so I can live the life I do. You can't expect to show up and get the world.
Or here's a solution...meet 'em at the border, give them an M-16, a uniform and a plane ticket to the Middle East. Serve for 2 years...Welcome to America. That will prove just how bad you want to be here.

As a veteran myself I applaud your husbands service however, please understand that half of the 9-11 bombers came through illegally through Mexico! we have to close the borders to keep the terriost out along with the illegals. do you know that these illegals get more and better benefits than the average U.S. Service man and their families? Have substandard medical, while thge illegals get top notch free medical care, prescriptions etc. It's time this country take care of our own, let Mexico and South America take care of thier own.
If you really think that illegal immigration is not a big deal and just legalize them then Darfur will be closer to your home then you think in the next five or so years.
So plz speak with knowledge of what you are talking about or ask!

legalizing would lead to far more problems down the line then anyone could ever imagine. Again may I use the Iraq war as an example!
If we do that then people would think it is right to be illegal. People should at least pay the consequse(can't spell) for their actions. I think the bill is a good way to solve the problem. It lets both sides win.
I think illegals should serve 3 yrs active duty military as part of their amnesty if in fact that happens.
to me getting these illegal criminals out of our country is a top priority now, no they should not be legalized. deported or jailed!!!
I,for one, think that there is no more pressing an issue than illegal immigration. I live in California and while "the war and Darfur" are tragic and need attention, they are not more important than immigration. The majority of illegals come here and they are taxing the social fabric of my state. It may be selfish of me,but I have a first hand look at the cost of it all and we need the federal government to put an end to this nightmare of a mess
