Wat are middle names used for?

theyre not really used for anything.

Answer:
Middle names were first introduced by German nobility in the fifteenth century, but did not become common until the seventeen hundreds. A middle name was not common in the United States until after the Revolutionary War. The tradition then was to use the mother's maiden name as the middle name. (Knowing this may be a good first clue when tracing your ancestry around this period. However, nothing is ever always absolute). Today they are just another name and mean nothing it is just a tradition anymore.
That is a very very good question! I don't know myself, but do some research on it!
It is another way to identify you as there are many people with the same names, ie, James Smith or Mark Williams, so middle names sometimes separate those people.
They are for moms to yell at their kids to let them know that they are REALLY in trouble...
It is another way to identify a certain person. There may be two people named Samuel Mendez (random name, sorry if it is actually your name) and one has the middle name Bob, the other Greg.

Well, they just give you an alternative. Like I use my middle name instead of my first because if I used my first, I would have the same name as my dad. It serves the purpose of telling me apart from him. That's just me though.
I'm afraid I can't remember which culture, but I read somewhere that some people would use another name to avoid someone putting a curse on their real name.

A middle name originally was picked according to the name of the saint who shared your birthday (ie, if you were born on St. Patrick“s Day, your middle name would be Patrick or Patricia). This practice is still commonplace in modern-day Latin America and even England.
