Will you be pushed out of your homestate of California when the new "amnesty" bill passes?
2. Where will you go?
Answer:
No I won't be pushed to do anything. IF it comes down to being forced to leave, Alaska looks pretty good.
They didn't listen to the current laws, why would they listen to the new one?
No one will be forced out. Nothing will change. There will be a larger work pool, which will fill the jobs that are not being filled. This will create more tax dollars for projects. In addition, the extra working people will put more into the local economy and further encourage growth.
I will not go anywere. I own a home there. I will still come and stay when I decide to come to Cali.
No it won't, life will go on as usual.
It's up to you if you will throw a fit, and CHOOSE not to live side by side people who have been living there anyway.
I wont leave, I love it here, Im not racist and have no problem with them living here with me!
And it's not AMNESTY!
Nope, I dont' think so at all. This legalization and path to citizenship bill (not an amnesty) simply states that all of the current workers here can apply to continue working temporarily, and that they can return to their home country to pay fines and apply for permanent residency. This doesn't increase the number of people living in California. I personally have no problem living and interacting with Mexicans and OTM's, so I don't have any personal reason to leave. I suppose if I were a racist, and I wanted all of the enslaved illegals to hide in the shadows, and I couldn't handle it when they began to be treated like other tax-paying U.S. workers, then I would be upset. But that's not my bag.
No. I'm going to love it. My mom especially. She's a principal of a high school here in San Jose, and the undocumented families she teaches will finally HAVE THE ABILITY to pay taxes. She won't have to worry about discrimination against her students or parents afraid to get too involved in the community. I'm going to like it. I'm a gringo that has learned spanish to a fluency that catches the Mexicans off-guard everytime. I can't wait for my 300,000 hispanic friends here in Sanjo to have a stronger, not worrying about deportation and all the crap that makes their life bad.
Looking at the answers here, it seems like the racists of this category aren't from California--one of the onl 4 states where illegal immigration actually has a real impact..hmmmmm.
Not immediately, no.
1. I live in northern CA, and the effects are muted here compared to, say LA.
2. Probably Oregon.
uh huh.Hey would it then be called Calico?Kinda fitting isn't it since a calico cat is multi colored? I kinda like that name.Hmmm I'm gonna call Arrrrnold and see if he'll rename it for me.After all I AM an AMerican and my wishes should come first.
Yeah right. All those people are already here. I have yet to be displaced! Besides, where I live the rent is insane! I don't know if they'd be able to afford it?
I don't live in California..I live in Texas, another border state...I hear people from California complaining day and night about this issue. Here in Texas, we don't have as many issues as you do in California and if we do, you don't hear us complaining about it as much.In fact, here our property values are depressed and yet we pay much higher taxes..In California, you have runaway property values, average price of homes there, top the country.Yet you complain, illegals are destroying your state...Instead of complaining about, how about you vote out those who keep the slave trade in your state.? Honestly, it gets old, hearing this whining how bad you have it in your state, most people are fortunate to live in such a state with such astronomical real estate values, you are by far, better off than the average American and yet here you are complaining.Sorry, its hard to have sympathy for you..How you like that for a tirade?
I thank God everyday that I'm a born & bred Texan, not a Californian.
I think it is pretty simple. If they will grant amnesty to all illegals then one thing for sure will change - job market. People who are in this country illegally drive the wages down now, imagine what will happen when they won't have to hide anymore. They will aim will start to aim at good jobs... And because of lack of experience they will work for much less then others. So, what will most likely happen is that you will have to move somewhere else for a better pay. Places crowded with illegals will suffer first. Of course all that won't happen over night, but maybe in a 5-6 years we might start to see changes. Hopefuly, I am wrong on this one...
Agree with midcenturydesigner's comment, although I've seen a few people from texas complaining about how they have to learn spanish becuase no one speaks english. I think it's a bunch of bull though...
I'm not leaving California, I don't have a problem with mexicans living next to me...they already do anyway... plus if they get legalized, they're going to go where it's cheaper to buy a house...it's only the smart thing to do!
WHEN it passes? I doubt it will in its present form. The Senate may give us crap but the House won't allow it to pass - they are afraid of loosing their jobs if they vote for amnesty!
So, since your question is moot - I'm not leaving! California is my home!
EDIT: Hey, "erasan" & "qwyrx" IT'S AMNESTY! The idiot polititions (e.g., Boxer, "Feinswine," McCain, Kennedy, Kyl, etc.) claim it's not but it is!!
you're assuming that it will pass. what do you base that on? Well, on to the question.
1. No, I do not feel that people will be pushed out of California because amnesty or not people need to be able to afford to live here and that will not be any easier with amnesty. Yes, you may get some more immigration but ultimately the economics of the situation will determine what happens.
2. see #1, I'm not going any where.
Although you didn't ask, I am going to give you my opinion on amnesty. Every country has immigration laws. People are punished for violations of those laws. Some countries have more strict regulations than ours. In some countries you need to prove what working skills you have that will make you an asset to have in the country. Why should we just give amnesty to law breakers? What message does that send? If the majority of citizens feel that our immigration laws are wrong then we should use the political process to change them.
