Not just the fields, but there's plenty of menial jobs we could be having them do.
It could be less jobs and pay for illegals as well with the introduction of this free labor, so maybe they'll go home.

Don't you know that criminals in jail need time to workout so they can become stronger and more viscious criminals when they get early release because of the overcrowding due to all the illegal aliens in jail.
How about having those prisoners build a 700 mile fence. WE could have it done in 12 months or less
I won't argue the men in prison part.
But most people on welfare fall into the Women, children & disabled category. Some women on welfare might be capable of that, The majority of them aren't.
But in the end it would cost more to do that.
Again, you think like an American who is sick of all the BS! We could do all of those things. However our government no longer listens to the American people's voice. Try telling them in spanish maybe they will understand.

GOOD THOUGHT ... Why don`t we build more prisons` and pay the prison personnel the same salary as a Congressman ? There would be no shortage of Real American workers for those jobs ; and they certainly would value the job making that kind of salary ! To save even more money , assign enough land inside the walls of the prison so the prisoners can plant , cultivate , grow, and harvest their own food since that seems to be the expertise of the majority of prisoners . No Work , No Eat !

The prisoners would be happy for fresh air. The welfare recipients would balk because they would want better pay. Of course we'd need to provide child care for the children, which may cost us more than they're worth. From what I heard, you can only receive benefits for 5 years now. No more having child after child. You need to tell them who fathered the child as well. No more "I don't know". The rules are getting better in that regard.
