What do you think about the Dream Act??
Another thing that caught my attention is that you guys only bring out the side of the story that benefits you, how about the part where it says, that you can gain legal status by serving the country?? How come you guys don't discuss that!?
Answer:
dream act is giving legal status for students who have been going to school in the us for 5 or more years, graduated, and will attend college.
they seem better then some legal residents.
i support it!
Can i get that tuition? Im a legal citizen!
They tried this already. It didn't fly then it won't fly now.
They already tried the dream act. It's didn't work in the past and won't work in the future. Sorry.
You have to be a complete nut to sit here and tell me it is ok for an illegal criminal alien to deserve in state tuition.
Sorrry they shouldnt give Illegal Imigrants tuition to go to school when there are so many American Citizens who deserve it and who should be getting it first and arent!
It is a nice idea, but not fair to natural citizens and those of us who immigrated legally.
There are many Americans who can't afford to go to college, and the discounted tuition and ability to get grants SHOULD go to them.
However, properly crafted I might go for it, on a they had to already be here and under 25 age basis (30 as it was in the Senate Bill is silly. That is just letting anyone get legalization by going to college, not taking 'college students' and legalizing them.) I'd want to add border security though.
You seem to be on stimulants. I hope it's just coffee. I'm right now not offended by it, but I haven't heard all arguements on this yet. The problem with the immigration bill is that it tolerates criminal activity, and not just illegally being here. The only question I have right now is about the kids parents. They should be deported even if the kid is legal. They should not be rewarded for their illegal activity.
I am supporter of this Act. It would allow talented youth, who had little choice in the matter of emigrating an opportunity to pursue a higher education and eventually adjust their status in the country. I don't see why anyone would not support allowing educated individuals to continue their education.
ok...here's the deal...
My son graduated Summa Cu m Laude from a top university.
So did my daughter-in-law.
He had scholarships which helped a lot, my husband and I paid as well, but still there are student loans to pay. He could have taken a deferment while pursuing his law degree, but instead my husband and I are paying his loan payments.
My daughter-in-law is French. She came here legally as a high school exchange student. She returned legally and attended the university. Her father paid her tuition and expenses in full.
She is now pursuing her graduate degree and is being paid to teach undergraduates as she does.
American are now paying taxes which pay for primary education for children, whether or not they are legally here or not. That is more than enough of a free ride for illegal aliens.
I can guarantee you that most Americans pay a hell of a lot more taxes than any illegal who claims to pay them.
If my tax dollars are going to subsidize higher education, then I want it to be for deserving American children. For children of Americans who cannot afford to send their children to college. For every 4.0 illegal alien child you find, I bet I can find 10 American 4.0's who live in poverty and in school districts without the resources to help them find aid. I want my tax dollars to benefit those children. No matter the color of their skin, just American kids.
This is an issue of Americans first.
BTW, what are the statistics in Mexico of children not completing a high school education?
The only people I would trust "serving this country" are the ones who respect it enough to respect our laws.
its not a dream, its a nightmare. It is only a way to give a illegal access to college while my own kids can't get in. Why should my kids not be allowed in because they happen to be white and legal?
Well, what you're talking about is what racist rednecks call the "anchor baby" concept of illegals. I don't call it that, but let me just say this.it doesn't matter how they got here. The fact is, it was done DISHONESTLY with DISREGARD by the people they were in the care of. Is the child responsible? NO. But does that mean they get a free pass? HECK no. And it shouldn't either. I'll use this illustration to unravel your weak argument: an alcoholic, an abusive father murders his wife and his kids get put in foster care because of it. Is it the kid's fault that their mother is dead? NO. It's the father's responsibility. But do the kids suffer any less? Does somebody wave a magic wand and their mother reincarnates herself? No. The kids will deal with that the rest of their lives. Your argument is childish and immature. Just like most of the people who sneak across our borders armed with lame excuses, dead people's SSI numbers and other outright LIES. So...who takes responsibility for the children? The offenders of my country's LAWS. That's who. The family suffers or prospers as the parents do. What's so confusing about THAT? Idiotic, INDEED. Just not like you thought it would be. Now, IS it?
To answer your question, I think the "Dream Act" is deader than Benito Juárez. I think all types of immigration "reform" are dead for the foreseeable future.
Aight now that the idiots have spoken, let me say something. Dream Act has a HIGH chance of passing in JULY. And you know why? Because the government needs new recruits for the army, simple as that. Yes, some will go to college, but many will go to serve in the army and if nothing else this is the only reason it will pass. That, and the kids did not have a choice(I am one of them).
