Justin Mundy, a government adviser on climate change, pointed to the current low levels of aquifers in Shanghai as a prime example of the problems China faces. Shanghai is going to have to use desalinized water in the next 10 years, then build the infrastructure to import water from Southwest China, he said.
``All the water in the southwest of China is fed by glacial melt,'' he said. ``Glacial melt in about 25 years' time is not going to be there in anything like the capacity that is going to be required. What then, Shanghai?''

I get so weary of reading all the BS written by GW skeptics. Let's see. On one side we have an overwhelmingly huge majority of world scientists agreeing that GW is real and caused by man with a greater than 90% certainty. On the other side we have a handful of scientists, most of them with conflict of interest due to receiving oil company funding.
The question is huge. If what the IPCC report s claims is true, it literally means the end of the world AS WE KNOW IT. And we can do something to ameliorate the effects. But, no, people here would rather sit on their duffs and spout denial. You would think that for a question as huge as that it would be worth doing a little reading of the report, right?
You want evidence? Here's your evidence - read the last report. It was convincing enough. Oh, what's that you say? You don't understand it? Well then keep your friggin mouth shut and let the people that do understand the science figure it out for you.
The new IPCC report is out and soon you'll be able to read that too. Will anyone here do that? I doubt it. It's so much easier to just say I don't believe it. If you haven't read the report and you don't understand what went into the making of that report, how can you possibly think you're qualified to open your mouth about it?

thats quite right sam s,we ill have too take our own people from east anglia and the fens, also london and kent, then low lying areas in valleys in different parts of the country, we wont be able to take in any immigrants from alian lands we will be too busy with our own, of cours a good government would be preparing extra rescue service on the highest ground near to the expected effected areas, and special emergancy food should be on offer now, not when it happens.

Global Warming is a very scary thought and something that might cause another World War with Super Powers fighting of "Planet Friendly" terrorists on a daily basis. The only way to stop America and China from killing OUR Planet is to attack their Governments any way we can to make them stop.
The time period that the UN talked was 100 years. A lot can happen in 100 years. Even if they are correct, which I doubt, why are we the ones to take in "hundreds of millions" of refugees. That's not our job.
Remember that these are the same people that claimed that CA would have a warm wet winter. We have been really cold and dry.
I really don't trust the predictions.
Yes I saw that on BBC tv the other day, " Most likely " were certainly the operative words, we do know that the earth warms up when the sun rises and we also know the earth cools down when the sun sets , do we really need 2500 clever folk to tell us that , I could do that job, is the money any good?
Now the question of wether mankind is contributing to this ozone layer is another matter, this is still a theory, all these clever folk haven't said is now a fact!!
Strange but I was just clicking through these questions and answers and some one had asked a question about dinosaurs and the ice age! It struck me then that we did in fact have an ice age, not a theory that but a proven fact.
Now one point here what caused that to come and go? There were very few jumbo jets or big engined cars on the road at that time , or at least none have been dug up yet have they?
Have the sea levels never changed during the life of this planet, was that all down to coal fired power plants etc etc. I think not. All absolute BS, but we can still put a tax on it cant we?
Whatever the outcome, land and food prices will go up lots!
& this will pull the world's standard of living down.
I predict a mega-influx of illegal Asian asylum seekers into the former Soviet Union after a global shift to the right wing on immigration issues (ie no access to any country any more without a phd, a full doctors degree, an MBA or a million pounds to invest here).
The opposite approach would also lead to a fall in standard of living, and a huge rise in unemployment.
Yep! The sky's falling and noboby notices those bumps on their head. More crime, more poverty, less oportunity more competition, higher taxes, more desperate to the point of anger and criminality people from all walks of life, not just illegals. And so more global warming goes on as we argue about it.
WE won't be alive then so no sweat. Who would want to have children into that kind of future? No one in their right mind. So look around you at those who are blind to the truth of what is befalling us. The best M.O. is to find a less than 1st world country and use that as your base home. If you need a bit of the modern world, visit until it sickens you and then go back to La La land. Prey that you die a natural death and are not killed off by a desperate criminal looking for a life or by some mass disease caused by over population, too many vehicles or the pollution of million upon millions having too many children and continuing to overburden and already sinking ship. it's a myth... when I hear about some scientist saying the Greenland Ice Cap is melting, they don't mention it's been melting for 50,000 years !
same for climate change, the earth has been changing forever...
of course, this doesn't mean we shouldn't be sensible, conserve resources, save energy and so on, we should, we defiinitely should, but global warming is a myth...
