My Son in-law lost his business due to illegals. Could not compete with the wages they were getting. With that said, they are about to lose their house, car and way of life. I wonder how that is helping Americans, with 2 possible family's being on welfare...the illegals and one family of Americans. Who really is benefiting from this? Big Business that is getting cheap skilled labor...hummm

Yes, punish the kids that did not have a choice. Punish the farm workers that bring you cheap food. "we the people" need a reality check.

I have a feeling that the congress is going to let sleeping dogs lie right now. I think they all took a huge hit with the public's outcry against the bill.
Business can ask for what they want to - but if the majority of voters are against it, then it will be struck down, just like before. The congress doesn't want to be back into the quagmire they were in before; business gives the money for the campaigns, but the voters give the votes that gets them the jobs. Tough choice to make in an election year. . .

Bush was/is trying to include a new L visa program that has no limits at all and they never, ever have to leave for any amount of time.
Look if Senators, and Congress members still want to play hard ball. Let's go to the playground. 2008 is coming up. Continue phone calls, emails, and faxes. The American people aren't shutting up our bigots, and racists... We are shutting up our traitors, and anti-americans.
I have to add - that I said many times this bill was about pardoning, and giving amnesty to the businesses who hire the illegals. These crack downs are going to hurt them the most, and as it should. Businesses can't keep getting a slap on the wrist for this mess they created. And illegals can't keep getting legal status at Americans expense. They want it both ways, and Americans only want it one. Enforcing the laws.
Whats wrong with 190,000 mostly highly skilled workers that are SCREENED before entering?. If there is a shortage of SKILLED workers in this country it would be stupid not to hire the foreign workers.
These H1B's are the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of contribution to society vs.almost all illegal immigrants. Very few H1B's will ever take government aid.
