Who thinks that the US Immigration should be surveillanced by an independent body?

the person with the most justified answer will be rewarded :)

Answer:
I think it should be supervised by a separate group.
People who haven't had a family member or friend immigrate have no idea how corrupt the system really is.
(1) Many government employees have no required standards or quotas to meet. As long as they show up to work, they can process one case or 20. If you could go to work and do as little as you wanted to, how many of your coworkers would do nothing at all? That is what is happening.
(2) The current 'legal' immigration system is very hard on families. My husband immigrated here legally. Just getting his greencard took over 2 years. We had to live apart for over two years because someone lost our paperwork. It was conveniently found shortly after the application fee for the I-130 went up.
I have a friend who married a girl from Dominica. She was here on a student visa for college but had to return as soon as she finished, which she did. They have been married for 4 years now and she still isn't allowed back in the US despite the fact she has no criminal record, has a college degree and married while in the US after a long and well documented courtship. He can only afford to visit her 3 times a year because to apply as a sponsor you have to make more then 125% over the poverty line within the US. The money he earns at a business he owns there doesn't count.
The reason she's still living there?
Her paperwork keeps getting lost and accidentally forwarded to the wrong office. They've been trying to be able to live together since shortly after they got married.
There's another lady I know from around here. She's been in the US for over ten years, first, for college, then she was granted a fiance visa. She's been on a fiance visa for three years now and can't get permission to work. If she leaves, she can't come back, but, she's not allowed to work while here. She'll soon lose certification in what she went to college for because she is not legally allowed to take classes to keep her certification current and is not allowed to work to keep it current either.
>>Please be more specific about "independent body". I am hoping you are not referring to Iran or Cuba? Who is independent??
What is wrong with the way we do immigration today? I see nothing wrong with it except too many want in.
Now the illegals will be taken care of by an independent body if our damn government don't get off their asses soon and take care of these criminals.
my opinion on immigration is that we should close off all our boarders for about a year. while we are doing this i say we focus more on the united states of America's problems and remove as many illegal immigrants. that way we can strengthen out economy get more people the jobs they deserve and do it worry free. we need to focus on the poor and closing our boarders will provide more opportunity's to the poor class of the U.S. Yes this extreme in many cases but its something that needs to be done.
No, stopping illegal immigration is not about who's enforcing the law, it that the laws are being enforced
Do any other countries have their immigration subjected to this? What is wrong with you people. The US is just another country trying to enforce their RIGHTFUL immigration policy. Mexico has MUCH more restrictive immigration laws. Just because its a sack of crud country that nobody wants to go to doesnt change the fact that it's harder to go there than come here. Why should Mexico have restrictive immigration and the US should open it's borders?

The same is true for most countries. The US is not going to be the dumping grounds for every yahoo who thinks the streets are paved with gold. That is not the case. And it's not a reason for people to suffer some sense of entitlement. THERE IS NO RIGHT TO COME TO AMERICA. IT IS A PRIVILEGE. AND SUBJECT TO OUR LAWS.

The suggestion that some third party should oversee how we protect our borders is more than offensive.
Anyway...
The borders should be wide open - its easy to say that illegals are messing things up, stealing jobs, whatever, but try in put yourself in their position. It may not be their right to live in america like us, people who were lucky enough to be born in the right place, but it is our RESPONSIBILITY as HUMAN BEINGS to help these people anyway we can.
No it shouldnt.we are a sovereign nation..no other nation on earth is subjected to that kind of stipulation, nor should we be...
As long as they are for the American people, the American culture, follow, and enforce the laws that are on the books. I'm for them. If they are an independent body from or out of Mexico... H*ll No!!
No. Where did you come up with this? This is our country, and if the immigrants dont like how we do things, then dont come. Let them stay where they are. If its too much to bear, by doing it legally then I guess its not worth it to them.
Obviously you do, I don't
i do!! you can't tell me that millions of lbs of drugs, stolen merchandise, illegal aliens, etc... just "slip" through. it's pretty hard to pack 1000 lbs of crack on your back and sneak it across the desert. i think it's HYSTERICAL that people laugh and laugh about the mexican police taking bribes.you don't think it happens here too? come on...people are people, everywhere you go.

also...if they were under surveillance, perhaps when i came though with my legally documented friend last year and he was forced to wait in line for 4 hours while 8 immigration officials talked on cell phones, ate donuts, and played sollitare...something might have been done. or maybe when one of them cracked this old man in the leg with his boot...maybe they would have caught that.

i'm not talking "oh boo hoo they won't let my boyfriend in" i am talking clear WASTE of taxpayers money. i refuse for to pay taxes for someone who sits on their butt, being rude to people all day long. t
