Why does immigration take so long ?
Answer:
Im really not sure. Im in the 7th month waiting for a fiance visa for my Italian fiance. it takes so long and there is so much to fill out, form after form. it seems like they are dragging to discourage us, i heard that they will take forever to test your commitment. but they should either start doing their jobs like we as taxpayers pay them to do. and hire some extra help because the time it takes is just plain ridiculous.
bureaucracy
All the illegals jumped in front of the line.
If it is really wanted, then it is worth the wait.
It all depends on your location and which office has jurisdiction over your area. Each new applicant in line, has to go through a process of clearance, IE FBI finger printing before an application can be approved! It takes time and the larger the city, the more immigrants, the longer the time . The BCIS has however, made great improvement to the length of time applications take. For instance, an N-400 application used to take one to one and a half years. Now they are processed within six months!
I thought that was standard processing time. 3 to 4 months.
I guess somehow immigration oficces have to be very bussy on this days that immigration is becoming such an important issue in the U.S.A.
I'm sure many of the people that migth have think they don't really need to have everything in order, have realized that they have to put everything in order as soon as posible.
As well as many of the people who was illegal, and wa already trying to arrange their status, are trying to hurry things.
That´s what i can think of, and i guess it migth keep this way for a long time.
nena...true story...
so when i wanted to get my permanent green card...i had to jump through so many freekin hoops...i came in through texas...i filed here in philadelphia for my permanency, but in the two years since i had been here, i lived for a couple of months in michigan...why is it that when i got the letter of appointment back...i was told that i had to go to hawaii...
you know that i walked my tail with my broke *** english down to their office to find out w.t.f. was going on...
so they didn't have an answer...told me i had to get an attorney...an attorney wanted almost 3 grand out of me...i asked him what steps he was going to follow to get my documents in order. he told me what...i said thank you...
got home got my papers in order, took a bus (to michigan) which is where for reasons i still don't know, my documents were...i went to immigration and i laid on them for 4 days straight...until they gave me my card...
i showed up every morning...same time, and went to the same customer service rep...i know she was heated...but i was not going to allow people who obviously play around with others time and future to screw me any longer...
every day she gave me some lame line about them sending me a letter...to philly and every day i told her that i'll be back tomorrow to pick it up..since i was already in michigan...i was not about to leave and have these fools send my information to some other state again...
cause when you get stopped and your temp green card says expires on a date that is long gone...the cops are not going to be sitting there being understanding of the mistakes that that agency makes...
did i mentioned that it was the middle of the winter in michigan...did i mentioned that i was broke...you know i was pissed walking in the freekin winter with my used to the hot weather skin...
from the i learned to not just sit and wait for them to remember me...if i know that it's supposed to be no longer than x amount of time...no sooner it's up, i am at their door steps...
we are paying their salaries...it's our right to walk in there and ask them what's up with our stuff.we don't have to sit and wait for 3,6 12 months...when in fact it's supposed to be less than that...
look the worst they can say is come back or we will get in touch with you..if that's the case, i always demand to know by when that way i can roll up there if i havent heard from them...and yes, i do believe in targetting that one person in there.they will want to get you out of their hair...
