Don't know what kind of statistics you are trying to quote, but the VAST MAJORITY of Americans (U.S. citizens) are against illegal aliens.

The main way leaders of "democracies" control their population is by fear. So whenever there is a lull in other news right-wing pundits try to drum up fear over illegal immigrants whose aim is to "destroy our way of life." They get votes for their party this way.
Why do I acuse right-wingers of this? Left-wingers tend to be more in favor of equal rights and human rights whereas rightwingers beat the drums for killing and war - I don't know why. Left-wingers seek to understand the humanity in everyone, and as such know that virtually all the illegal immigrants are merely trying to find a better future for their children, to become good Americans. They aren't trying to destroy our way of life at all, but embrace it.
I haven't seen the emails in this forum about Israel, but the fact is Israel has taken over Palestine already. Back in the 18th century, a bunch of Zionists from Europe decided to encourage immigration into Palestine with the intent of taking it over, some of them with the goal of expelling the people who lived there. In 1948 with a lot of terrorism, massacres and ordering people out at gunpoint most of the people were expelled by these Zionists, who then confiscated their land, money and property.
Some of people who were expelled haven't given up fighting for it. Zionists label all attempts by Palestinians to regain their land and homes as attempting to destroy Israel, regardless as to how peaceful. In 1967 Israel took over the remaining part of Palestine and expelled a lot more people, the remainder have lived with foreign troops patrolling villages and controlling their lives ever since. Furthermore, they confiscated more land from Palestinians to build settlements, destroyed more villages, some 18,000 homes. Israel labels all violent attempts and some non-violent attempts to expel the foreign troops as terrorism. And of course their politicians exploit the public's fears. You won't find any fact-based discussion of this from most of these right-wingers.
Well, the above is the only context that I could relate immigration to Israel and Palestine. Despite Israel's crimes against the Palestinians, I support amnesty for the Jewish immigrants in Israel. Just they have to give back the land they took by force from people and let them return to their villages.
