Where would California be today?
Answer:
The streets would be less polluted, the classrooms caught up with learning, the hospitals wouldn't be burdened with low lives that don't pay up. It would have sent the problem somewhere else though. Illegal immigration is a national problem. We need to keep putting the pressure on our reps.
i dont like cali i dont know i dont care
Well its the same thing that is happening today. i hate it. i think it would have fallen apart b/c whoever thought of it would see how wrong they were. also b/c there would still be illegals coming in needing to be legalized, which should not happen.
first all mexico would have it---------------that would be nice!!
I think it should be given back to the mexicans, and then they want have to sneak over illegally------------I feel sorry for them.
I am not Mexican, but I feel that is good.
2 over populated to make a difference and it just gets worse and guess who pays for those things thats right another tax dollar at the american expence.
I really don't think it would make a difference. The law wasn't enforceable anyway. In fact it wasn't meant to be a serious law, just a political tool to bring Republicans out to the polls so Wilson could get re-elected.
Our attitude towards undocumented workers in California is completely schizoid. The politicians who rabble-rouse against them the most are the same ones who hire them as gardeners, chauffers and nannies. Republicans encouraged and exploited nativism for years and years (just as they have always exploited -every- kind of intolerance) But the Republican party is really about cheap labor and they LOVE undocumented workers because they work cheap and bring down wages for everyone.
It would've continued. Not only that, but Americans tax dollars would be spent on (get ready for it...) American citizens!
Viva Aztlan y la Reconquista!!
hahaha! what ever. You must really hate yourself. Where would you be if you were not hispanic?
The real issue here is the incompetence of Government in making the application process faster and less restrictive. It would then be beneficial to apply properly than come into the US illegally. We will always have millions of illegal peoples here illegally until we have a realistic and enforced immigration policy.
You don't need to be legal to enjoy the lifestyle of America, Governments are not fair or honest when it comes to immigration. In fact they are unfair to their own born citizens in deporting their parents.
The whole process takes too long and is unfair and restrictive to most normal people that try to come here legally, even mothers or Fathers of young USA Citizens cannot come legally until their children are 21 yrs old, how fair is that? it is certainly unfair to children born in the USA to have their parents deported.
If the immigration system was faster, less exclusive and more understanding, people would make sure that they would apply properly as there would be no reason to try to come illegally. As it stands now they have little to lose that’s why there are 20 million illegal people’s contributing to the economy in the form of sales tax and doing the menial jobs that Americans will never do.
I know people that became millionaires whilst working illegal in the USA over many years, they are still there today. The process is too laborious to bother applying for legal status, who needs the funds off the Government anyway, certainly not hard working people.
Some foolish people may say keep immigrants out don't make it too easy for them. Hey it already is easy, the illegal people’s are going to come, are coming and will always come to the USA; until the immigration application process; is fixed by the Government.
Look at the Millions of illegal people’s from all over the world that were allowed to become citizens under the Clinton Amnesty in 2001 that was first introduced by G H Bush. Look at the millions of illegal people’s that are soon to be put on a roadway to citizenship by G W Bush.
It is an absolute tragedy that politicians hoodwink themselves into believing that this is the best way to solve the immigration problems of the USA. Every few years have an amnesty and let several Million illegal people’s become legal citizens.
What does this say to people wanting to migrate into the USA? it says the fast track way to enter the USA to set up a new life is to AVOID the stretched out exclusive, unreliable and exasperating application process at all costs; fly there, stay there, work, wait a few years and then get my guaranteed amnesty place in a few years time.
Until Government immigration policy is changed, it will always be better for most immigrants to come to the USA through the Back Door to Guarantee their citizenship sooner rather than later.
Our schools would be SO much better..
It would have fallen apart ... maybe we might even have seen riots . if it would have passed, you would be 100% sure that SOMEONE was going to stop it before it went into effect.
What would have happened to the california economy? It would have been hurt terribly ...
*who would rent the homes or apartments?
*who would pick your food?
*who would do your lawns?
*who would babysit your kids? (for those who hire illegal nannies)
*who would cook your food & wash dishes at the restaurnats?
*car washes?
I could go on forever ...
Maybe the rest of the "citizens" will fill those jobs .... BUT . they would not do it for the same $$ .... They would charge you WAAAY more than an illegal would have. That would mean that you'd either have to cough up more money , or do it yourslef!
