If you want limitless possibilities and the best chance to have everything you want, then the US.

By the way, I have lived in three countries other than the US, and have visited thirty more. This only goes to strengthen the conviction of my answer.

Ireland! I lived there for a bit and in every way there's nothing like it. I didn't worry about crime or anything and the people were great. I hope to return one day and stay permanently.
It is clear that all the US residents who answered here haven't been/lived outside the US, or they wouldn't answer this question the way they did!
I would go for either the UK or Canada, as the govenments are a bit more in touch with reality. Also, there is universal health care, excellent schools and far less crime.
People vote with their feet, so just examine the numbers of people permanently leaving a country (surrendering citizenship) and which countries people go to (legally, or otherwise.) And, when more Americans leave the US to live ANYWHERE else, than there are people coming, and scheming to come, here, then I'll believe that the UK, Southern Ireland, or Canada are better countries than this one.
