Being from Texas you are almost forced to take a side. I am pretty conservative but here is my take.
Almost all of our relatives came from some other country. We are all in effect descendants of immigrants. The jobs that illegals are working must be done by someone. We MUST re-gain control of the border NOW. A guest worker program would be good for those who wish to work but not become citizens. Those who do wish could apply and go through the same process that all other immigrants go through. There must be some form of identification for these people so that they can be employed legally and above board. Then we must TAX them just like any other person is taxed who works here. It would be a different country if they had to play by the same rules as everyone else. Then they must learn to speak and write ENGLISH. I think when they play our game by our rules the situation will change dramatically. We can not continue to take the poorest Mexico can throw at us.
For those that are racist hypocrites, it would be a different ball game. For those solely oppossed to ILLEGAL migration, it would probably be a different ball game. As much as we like to avoid it, much of it is race related and xenophobic.
I honestly dont have a problem with immigrants. But i think that the reason everyone takes it out on the hispanics is because there are so many of them. But i personally know more illegal immigrants from England than from Mexico, but the English seem to have no problem, no one gives them crap. I dont think thats fair.
I think its a shame that we feel this way but I think nobody would care about illegal immigrants from Canada because most of them are white. This is a horrible thing I know, but that is what is probably the truth.
The common denominator is "illegal". You hear me? ILLEGAL. I for one have no qualms about immigration. However, I do have a problem with people jumping the fence, tunneling to our country or floating in on rafts. You want to be a U.S. citizen? Ok, fine. Just do it the proper way or DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT 200 and take your @$$ back to where you came from!
i think the answer is an obvious no, they would not support them if they were from canada. i dont think this is a matter of right or wrong as far as what the lobbyists are doing, i think they are just rooting & supporting the home team cause they all realize that a better life (depending on ur definition) can be had in america if they want it, thats all. im white & personally im against illegal immigration, not legal immigration though. there may be a politicall agenda as well, i dont know.
I think that Americans in general would be more accepting of illegal immigrants from Canada, not to try and sound racist or anything, because most Canadians are white and speak English. The ability to speak English is probably a MAJOR factor in my opinion, plus there's nobody to point at and really identify as an illegal immigrants if the immigration is from Canada(i.e. it's easier to tell a who's Mexican in a group of white Americans than it is to tell who's Canadian.)
I think a group of people in any country would be outraged if they had a mass number of illegals coming into the country.
The race/culture thing does not matter. It would all be because of the cost factor burden to the society. Of course, most other countries wouldn't give certain incentives like America has.
I asked a similar question of the pros not long ago. I asked if the illegals were Germans,would they still support them being here. The only pro who answered said that if the pros answered honestly they would have to say no,they would not want them here because Germans are white.
The pro illegal movement is an anti white one.
well I am not hispanic, but I do come from a latin family on my fathers side we were Italian immigrants . My father now lives in California and he has more latin blood than I do , he and people are upset there because the health care system is in shambles. Illegal have had heath care provided to them in the emergency rooms until the hospitials are broke. No one wants to see anyone die in the emergency room , but believe me it is happening everyday. The federal government is going to have to fork out a lot more more for health care if they want to continue to place a high value on life itself. This is just one reason , there are many more , but racism isn't it for my family. Secureing the border should come first . Canadians have a working health care system , or so I am told.

Would there be a difference if the majority of illegal immigrants were from Canada? Absolutely, Canadians tend to be well educated and instead of unskilled labor jobs being affected you would see many of the upper middle to professional jobs affected and you would hear an uproar the likes of which you have never heard. Luckily for us Canada is a pretty great place and have no need to venture inside our borders except for visits and a beach vacation.

If you think that there are more English illegals here in the US, you are very ignorant on this subject! MOST illegals are from Mexico. That statistic has never been challenged, until you made that ridiculous statement! Please take your head out of the sand and realize that the illegals are mostly from Mexico!
